edited. I misinterpreted it to mean one of Tulsa's (as in TU) athletes had their offer pulled. My bad.
I'm still worried about the ill will created with the coaching staff at Holland Hall.

Stallion, that might be true, but apparently Matt had Rivals fooled as he is listed as one of the top 25 players in Oklahoma!

22 Matt Allen Tulsa (OK) Holland Hall School OL 6-3/275 SMU Sleeper offensive line prospect that also has a high grade-point average.
Even his write-up in the top 25 calls him a sleeper. A sleeper with 1 D1a offer.

Per Rivals, Beasley has an offer from Air Force.
Of course, Bo Levi Mitchell also has an offer from Hawaii.
If, as some have suggested, Alex Odiari ends up at SMU, he also had offers from Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Texas Tech and TCU.

Although Ellison commited to Bennett, I thought based on an earlier thread that June had reaffirmed the offer. The only two we do not know about are Smith and Beasley. Smith apparently visited last weekend.

Well it must be a REALLY weak year for Oklahoma kids then! Even his write-up in the top 25 calls him a sleeper. A sleeper with 1 D1a offer.

Ellison is enrolled early. He's a done deal.
Beasley will be a Mustang.
Still checking on Smith.

I'm no expert but it just seems kind of weird to me. Something is better than nothing, I would think.
First of all thats the loser mentality that has kept SMU in the hole for 20 years.
Secondly, You become a winning football program by properly evaluating/signing solid talent and executing on the field. Not by filling up your commit list with unqualified players for the sake of taking up space.
We finally have a true talent evaluator in our midst and receiving a scholarship offer from SMU will now have meaning.

Why should we be in the business of giving a free education to players who cannot play? Leaving open scholarship slots, puts us in a better position to compete for transfers and JUCO's. Also the occasional walk-on who may be deserving.

They graduate about 40 guys each year total. Not forty from the football team. That's total. If we were welcomed to recruit at Holland Hall I would guess we would pick up maybe 1 or 2 in the next 20 years

I think he was kidding because he was playing off the ridiculous Mike Owens' comments about us and Tyler Robert E. Lee.
That's OK, the school is named after a Confederate General WHO LOST THE CIVIL WAR ANYWAY. Nice work in 1865, Bob!
