Well at least we are not pretending that the best players in the state are undiscovered sleepers from tiny Bugtussle any more. But it should be pointed out that 11 players on that list are committed and many other really aren't looking very closely at SMU:

Texas:
Ashcroft
Barrett
Gilbert
Vacarro
Walters

OU:
Ford
Wort

LSU:
Pratt
Shepard

A&M:
Wade

Clemson:
Lotson

But in recruiting what seems so clear in May might change later in the recruiting season. I truly believe the best strategy for a non-BCS school is to continue to pursue the top players. Every year there are top players who have 4-5 top BCS schools on their list and those schools magically disapper in January as recruiting slots are taken up. Suddenly many recruits star studded early list is reduced to 2 or 3 non-BCS schools. Then you've got a shot because you've been after these kids all along.

So it sounds like we're definitely moving in the right direction...it's at least good to see us shooting high instead of being happy with just the 2A all district guys.

About the only good 2A prospect during the PB years was probably Terrance Ganaway who wanted to come here but PB didn't want him except as a safety...got a lot of playing time at UH this past year as a true freshman and probably 600 yards (not verfified).

Wasn't Burley a 2A guy? He has not done much here yet but was pretty highly recruited with other better offers than ours. Kansas being on of them if I recall.

PS this is not me encouraging us to chase 2A players as a rule. just saying I think Burley was another to put into the convo with Gone-away.

Was KK Bennett's recruit? My apologies to anyone who performed well at who was from 1A or2A school...still just pissed off that Bennett outthought himself with Ganaway.

I think KK was a senior in Bennett's first year here, so no
