Southlake:
The 2,545-student high school has an annual athletics budget of about $500,000, a $15.3 million stadium where crowds average 10,000 for games, and a $3.4 million indoor practice facility that measures 80 yards by 60 yards. More than 350 students play football, and reserved football tickets require the purchase of a personal seat license

You know when Carrol went on their first run that started in the 2001-2002 season when they were still in 4A do you know who there only loss was to that season? Highland Park, HP, the original genuine article of high school football around these parts. Doak Walker's high school. They haven't played Highland Park since. Chickens!
Larry Brown? We have Larry Brown? Cool!

I really hate that this kid is going anywhere but SMU. He could attend SMU without a use of scholarship and learn under a man with NFL background and ties. This is the type of recruit that should be automatic, and it sends a questionable signal out to other recruits.
I respect the kid's right to make his own decision, but he should be on our team in my opinion.

In theory I agree with you. But sometimes, it's best for a son and his father not to be in the same arena.
It was a similar situation at Minnesota. Tim Brewster's son Clint changed his commitment from Illinois to the Gophers and redshirted in 2007.
However, Clint announced earlier this year that he was going to transfer to another school because of the influx of QBs the Gophers either have on the roster or signed and coming or have committed.
IMO, the father-son thing can work far better in high school than it does in college. That's why it will be interesting to see how Riley Dodge does with his dad.

I would agree if father was to be his coach (which he was in high school was he not?). However, dad is our bridge to the area high schools. I think this sends a poor message if dad is out selling our school to high school athletes when his own child decides not to come.

Oral commitments are non-binding.

While I understand where you are coming from, I wanted to get the hell away from my parents when I got out of high school. My Dad could have been president of Princeton and I probably would have chosen to go somewhere else.
My folks are nice people, I just wanted to forge my own path.

That's why I said 12 million. You'd be amazed how much Crum money was spent on the offices.
A lot of the money for the basketball offices came in through private donations, at least according to the signs that were up during the tours offered in connection with the groundbreaking.
That's correct, sir.
