For the past 20+ years that strategy has been a complete failure. The fact that our rooster has been littered with kids who had no other offers has made us the laughingstock of the NCAA. Not saying he can’t be good…am saying the odds are against it...way against it.
I didn't realize the team kept a pet [deleted], her male chicken, although I would hope they would respect the pet enough not to throw trash at it, much less kids no one wants.
The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

see what you guys did. Now this thread is going to degenerate into a [deleted] fight, or at best an argument as to the differences between a rooster and a game [deleted]

I'll give it a go. A rooster is fat dumb and basically happy with all the hens he has. A game [deleted] likes to fight and doesn't have time for hens.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

He didn't say past coaches offered him. He said THIS staff of SMU coaches offered him. Huge difference.

Some of you guys are trashing this kid. Look at his offers. That is definitely a better list than most SMU recruits.

You are missing my point Kiper...I am not comparing JJ to his predecessors...I AM comparing JJ to every other D1-A coach in America...and apparently every other D1-A coach DID NOT offer him.

Yeah, Centennial is a high producer of Division 1 talent in the Inland Empire...especially for linemen, I believe. Might be another good recruiting outlet in CA.
I've been wondering if the staff is willing to take some risks on SoCal guys to try and establish a pipeline there...huge population base & some really good football and those kids haven't been bombarded with bad SMU headlines for years
Considering that Centennial is currently the #1 ranked HS football team in the State, their best players aren't overlooked by SC and other BCS teams. Nevertheless, a pipeline there could be productive. An occassional game on the West Coast wouldn't hurt either. SMU is now on the radar screen of SoCal parents and kids, especially in the OC where we plucked Hualahulu and that stud kicker out of Servite.
