I'm sure that SMU coaches mention that Hawaii had *2* RBs drafted by the NFL in 2006. Not many BCS conference teams can claim that achievement, and I can't think of any non-BCS conference team that has had that.

Probably going to be tough to convince a top recruit to come to SMU and carry the ball 6-8 times a game. Hopefully, he is from the same mold. Remember we are still involved in the Imade kid from Rowlett who is having a great year and fits that description.

6-8 carries a game and 10 other touches from shovel passes, flair passes and inside screens if he's a good enough ball carrier. give jones a good enough rb and he'll put the ball in his hands, just might not be too many handoffs

If he is more of a big city guy and is choosing between SMU and Dallas and WSU and Pullman, we have an excellent chance. Pullman, Washington makes Lubuck look like New York City.

We realistically need at least 10 kids a year like this who have BCS offers to play in Pullman WA, Starkville, MS, Manhattan KS, Corvaillis OR, Champange, IL, etc.....

Bingo. In today's era of the spread offense, even at the high school level, that will sell to a lot of players.

and the carries argument might make sense for a guy who is 6-1 215...but for a guy who is listed....listed at 5-7 170....how many carries is he going to get in the Big 12 or Pac-10?

yea I mean a guy that size would NEVER get any substantial carries in a conference like that.

oh wait, I think this guy single handedly took down the great USC Trojans a few weeks ago...

Jacquizz Rodgers (5'6" 180lbs on his scouting report) - only got 37 carries, 186 yds and 2 tds in that game by the way. No big deal

Now wait just a minute! Are you actually suggesting that there's a specific exception to a general rule? That's B.S., I don't believe it.

You could easily be right and the average height for BCS Running backs is shorter than Dwan's expectation. But the fact that one Mighty Might ran up big on one game isn't really much of an indictment.

of course there are exceptions like maurice jones drew, jacquizz, but for the most part, a guy who is listed as 5-7 170 is probably closer to 5-5 150 and those numbers are a turn off to major BCS schools. They like to recruit guys at that size and use them in the kick return game or get them the ball in the flat....like a Dave Megget or that little guy at LSU. My point is I dont think there are many school telling this kid he is going to carry the ball 20 times a game.

Here is the story.

This kid is a stud. I have seen him play about 4 times and would play a big role immediately. Legit 4.3 speed. Its like watching a player that is controlled by a joystick!

We'll see. SMU has also just offered RB Kendial Lawrence from Rockwall-Heath although he has about 8 offers. Has over 1600 yards on the season and is rated 3 Stars and 5.6. He said he'll listen although SMU is the latest to offer

that's 3 guys-Sofele, Lawrence and Imade anyone one of which would be nice. Good to know we have options.
