Houston's list is better than ours. Rices's list will pickup after the bowl game but SMU is looking better than the last 3 or 4 years just wish the DL and LB recruits were a little deeper.

I'd agree that our standard is not Top 15 programs like Tech and TCU. Our standard of comparison is CUSA. Going by Rivals, we're just below Tulsa and Houston right now. Yes, yes, yes this doesn't include Div I transfers, JUCOs, yada, yada, yada.

Here's an honest assessment of our recruiting class. I think we need another QB, we took two as in two many sleepers at Receiver-thoughht we might do better than that at both positions with June Jones. We need guys like Darius Johnson at all 4 WR positions. Johnson is an incredible prospect for SMU at the Inside Receiver spot-exactly what we need but we need them at all WR positions. So far we've failed to recruit a RB and I'm not happy with what we got returning at RB so I mark that as a big hole in our recruiting class. I think we can work with the offensive lineman which I think is a solid group.

Didn't get the size or really the athletes we want at LB-the Porter kid from Louisiana could help with athleticism but not really size. Considering the lack of quality athletes SMU has at that position-that's another big negative in our recruiting class. I think Marquis Frazier at DT is promising but he's a questionmark because of his rehabilitation. Otherwise, we didn't get the types of players we really need to excell at DT. I like the long term potential of Brandon Henderson and Braylon Williams but they probably should be redshirted-I guess Henderson might be able to play LB too. Think we could have gotten better quality at CB although the Safeties are promising.

In summary, this class is a step in the right direction but its not a great class either. It is a mid level competitive CUSA class and if you are satisfied with that-be happy. I think we need to do better to reach the goals set for this program. Hopefully, Jones will finally be able to hit the 2010 recruiting class hard out of the gate starting in late February.

Stallion is right. So far this is a mid level C-USA class. According to rivals most recent rankings we are 6th in C-USA behind Tulsa, So. Miss., Houston, UAB, and UCF.

I think we will get there, though slowly. Until we put up 5+ wins, we will be hoping to get great performances out of these guys. Win 5 or, better yet, 6 and I think the game changes entirely.

I expect that we will see a drastic change in recruiting once we get to that level and then the sky could be the limit.
It tastes better when served from a Bowl (game)!

2009 will be a pivotal year. We've got to show on field improvement. When that happens, we'll start to attract bigger and better recruits. I look for a big recruiting year next year.
