I noticed on Andrew Kinsellas Rivals page it looks like it is down to us and Princeton as well

My impression is that Kinsella might be #1 on our wish list of remaining players.

I think I'd rather have Mack.

SMU could be a perfect fit for Mack. We may not be on the same level as Princeton academically, but SMU is a very good school. The location is obviously close to home (about 5 hour drive), and c'mon it's Dallas...plenty to do and see. It is a good mix of academics and football, of which both are good now. Plus I think SMU can be a really good stepping stone to graduate school, where it looks like if he keeps up his good work he can get in pretty much anywhere he wants.

Also, our style of play makes it crucial to protect the QB. I'm hoping he recognizes this and understands he could be a very important piece to the team puzzle.

Let's hope that JJ and coaches come up with some great suprises on NLI signing day. It is only early Jan. but I can tell the excitement is starting to build. Our bowl victory and all of the positive press that we have gotten lately can not help but be good for our recruiting efforts.

The thing that worries me is that it seems that Mack is pretty heavily influenced by recent visits. He used to have a top 5 of Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Syracuse, and Illinois. Then narrowed it to Wake, Arkansas, and Vandy, as those were the ONLY three schools he had visited. And then Illinois re-entered the picture. Then he visits SMU and it makes his "top 2."

So his up-coming visit to Princeton could very easily be the thing that sways him to sign there. Looks like with him, it will be hard to gauge until he officially signs.

Since when are we competing with Princeton for recruits? Besides...Princeton's in New Jersey. Who in their right mind would want to spend 4 years in that state?

They have a new Head Coach who was the OL coach for the Bengals who is real aggresive about recruiting kids who actually want a good college education like at Princeton and when he sees one who is interested gets on the phone. He may be selling the fact that he has experience coaching NFL OL technique and NFL connections etc. and BTW kid you can get a Princeton degree. They don't get a Full ride but lots of grants etc that offset the $ that you still have to pay.

Princeton is a beautiful community with a business district that is 2 blocks long and 1 block wide and is certainly not Dallas. If he takes a visit prior to the national signing date he will find the temperatures in the low teens and snow on the ground. Princeton area has a rich history in both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars and a real neat country side. SMU should be an obvious choice if he seeks to play at a high level of competition with first class coaching and good academics. If he were to choose Princeton it would be a total focus on academics, some football and no NFL aspirations.

Maybe I am wrong but isn't the deal with this kid is that he really isn't sure whether football is his number 1 priority???????

From what I read this kid has a serious focus on academics and will assess all options which is completely commensurate with the thinking of a bright kid who wants a high caliber education. He may also have a very realistic view of his chances to play at the next level and is not going to waste several years at a football factory figuring out what he already knows. Hence, he will spend his time this month visiting schools he has targeted to figure out what is in his long term best interest. If he chooses an Ivy it also presupposes that he/his family are willing to pay a hefty portion of the school costs as most athletes only get roughly 60% ( most Ivy schools are around $50,000) of the total bill in various forms of assistance.

My guess, he will get the full ride (they'll figure it out for the right player). If he is good, he will make the pros as Ivies place players into the NFL all of the time. Our best argument is when we start placing OL into the NFL, which may happen in a couple of years. His approach is different than most recruits, however it refreshing. Best success in his choice.

Actually we have 2 or 3 players we are recruiting that are looking at Princeton. I think it us the new head coach as ponyscott said.
