I don't know if y'all saw the post I made in the Football Forum about the kid out of Lake Dallas who beat our unbelievably strong signee Rishaad Wimbley in the state powerlifting championship. He benched what is to me an unbelievable 565 pounds to take the title.
565 for a high school kid?

425. This was apparently last year, so Rishaad has the chance to win it all this year as a senior.

Fuller was a SO at Virginia Tech last year. He will be able to play 2 more years like Chris Foster a few years ago.

Anyone know what happened to the rumored transfer of WR Devon Brown from Wake Forest? Did he end up somewhere else?

“To be honest with you, he likes SMU,†George Mance, Fuller’s high school coach, told the paper. Fuller has already met with Mustangs head coach June Jones as well as WR coach Jeff Reinebold, and has completed paperwork that would allow him to enroll in the school.
Fuller will seek an NCAA waiver that would allow him to play immediately in 2011. http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/26/ex-hokie-wr-may-be-leaning-toward-smu/

This article was published yesterday: Fuller was a redshirt sophomore at Virginia Tech and has elected to transfer. He was playing a little at Tech. He was on the kickoff team and played in the Hokies' four-wide set
Fuller's father George Fuller is a builder in McKinney. Naturally, Austin Fuller wants to live close to where his father is and have a chance to play.
Those factors led Fuller to ask for his release from Tech. He has since received it and will be in McKinney at the beginning of May.
"He has visited SMU and visited the campus at UNT," George Fuller said. "He is going to be here after his spring classes finish on May 5 or 6. The only decision that has been made is that he will come down here with us. Where he goes to school is the next concern." http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/archives/2011/04/va-tech-transfer-will-consider.html

The UNT blog doesn't have a spell checker for the word "Rivals". He was a two-time all-state selection at wide receiver in high school and was ranked No. 81 among wide receivers in the Class of 2008 by Rivlas.com. He is 6-3, 218 and would likely fit in UNT's system as a big slot receiver.
George Fuller said his son is considering appealing to the NCAA for immediate eligibility on the basis of the family needing him to move closer to home to help out with the family building business during tough economic times.
If Fuller is granted that waiver, he would be able to play two years beginning this fall. If not he could transfer, sit and then play one final season.

Interesting comment on the article: This kid is going to SMU and can't say that I blame him. Play with a future all-conference QB or a former back-up with limited experience? Play for a noted offensive coach who took Hawaii to the Sugar Bowl or one known for taking Iowa St. to the Insight Bowl a couple times? Dallas... here I come.

Any rumors to why he might be granted to play immediately in 2011?

As Garret quoted above from the Denton paper: "George Fuller said his son is considering appealing to the NCAA for immediate eligibility on the basis of the family needing him to move closer to home to help out with the family building business during tough economic times."

Wonder if any past kids have been granted for such reasons.

Wonder if he has any chance of breaking into the starting rotation before he graduates.
