If we are crafting this thread for his friends and family, spelling his name correctly would be clutch also.

Roddrick Moore commits to SMU

Postby goldenstang » Tue May 29, 2012 11:40 pm

It really was a pretty harmless observation by him. I am pretty sure his friends and family are aware that he has no other offers, it shouldn't be some big shock to them. It's like when people tell me that I am a [deleted], I don't get mad because I am fully aware of it.

Aware that you are an [deleted] or that people think that you are an [deleted]?
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Sounds like he may be fairly young, as he was a 16-year-old his junior year in HS.

Played varsity ball his sophomore and junior years.
1st Team All-District 5A as a junior
MVP for linebackers at the National Underclassmen Combine
Nominated to attend U.S. Army Combine / All-American Football Game
Looking to major in sports management / business management

Not bad! Thanks for the update, PPunch.

Very impressive in the video, especially the way he repeatedly split double-teams to get in to the backfield. Also liked the second play on the tape, when he stood up an offensive tackle (from Carter HS, I think), shed his blocker and made the tackle in the backfield. That's something some guys just seem to "have."

Welcome aboard, Roderick!

Looks like he played all along the D Line at Skyline. I wonder if he plays LB for SMU.

Looks pretty athletic, easily makes the biggest push play after play on the Skyline DL.

He reminds me of N. Suh with the way he plays, hopefully he can do that at the college level.

I always find it revealing when someone responds to a fact (zero offers) and a rather mild observation (probably not a piped piper) with an attack.

Most on here are Republicans who probably get rather p*ssed when the MSM uses this tactic on their conservative beliefs.

some on this board seem to think our coaches are just too lazy to go after 4 and 5 star kids...or could it be they are realistic enough to know after putting out feelers or making an intial contact that their chances are slim to none and they need to move on?

I find it hard to believe our coaching staff would not pursue 4 and 5 star kids who show interest in SMU, but we've got work to do to become a more attractive option for those guys.

This staff has done a pretty good job finding guys who fit our systems and can compete at the D-1 level. We may never know (if these guys remain firm in their commitments) but would be interesting to know what BCS schools take a closer look and contact them to gauge their interest in their school just because SMU has offered.

What we are saying-is that the staff is too old, too out of touch with the high school scene, too few quality recruiting contacts and not diverse enough to get commits even if they waited on the front doorstep of every single Top 150 player in the State of Texas and waited for Momma to come home from work every day. They are not good recruiters-some may be decent evaluators but if you expect these guys to OUT-recruit quality teams for top recruits then you can forget it. Its not like this wasn't predicted long before it happened. June's staff is about a decade older than just about every comparable recruiting staff in this part of the country.. Is it really asking too much for SMU to have a good shot at maybe 10 -20 Texas Top 150 players. I can't name a single Texas Top 100 kid that it appears based on reports that we have a definite good shot out. Texas Top 150-not too many of them either. Really? Too much to ask? From a school going to a National profile Conference after 3 straight bowl games? Larry Brown has been he a month and hires the exact type of staff necessary to recruit well. We may not get them but there is at least a buzz from a large number of recruits indicating they are very interested. There is no buzz at all from top Texas Foootball recruits. Really?

So that's the goal? Buzz with no signatures? I'll defer to the staff that found and landed Zach Line, Ja'Gared Davis, Taylor Reed, Darius Johnson, Kenneth Acker, JR Richardson, etc.

You do realize the guys that landed JG Davis & Taylor Reed (Hundley) and JR Richardson & Darius Johnson (Reinebold) are no longer on the staff? No one is saying the staff can't evaluate talent, because they do a pretty good job of that. But for every JG, T Reed and Z Line there are BJ Lee's, Robert Parkers, Marcus hollifield's, Zach Boyd's...
