If June coached one of his relatives 40 yrs ago then he has a shot. Otherwise - probably not.

It's amazing how negative fans are about a coach who has brought this team to three straight bowls. I swear, there are some who will blame him for the sun setting every night. I, for one, will always appreciate what June has done for my team.

You can appreciate June and at the same time realize that we have a long way to go to get where we want to go, and the some of the issue in getting there is June's less then top drawer recruiting.

I think we have spent enough time appreciating and probably need to spend some more time figuring out how we are going to get to the next level. We jumped up a rung just in time (BE) - but there is a ton more to do and I often dont think June is energized enough to want to do it.

June reminds me of a Stanford grad I work with. Very bright guy with just enough energy to keep job. Zombie

Withdrew his committment to Syracuse and committed to TCU. Would have been a great fit at SMU.

Maybe, maybe not.
I'm far more interested to see Kolney Cassel be a great fit at SMU.

He can walk on. However, its pretty great having promises on all of the scholarships.

Will Kolney vs. Zach settle June's QB guru status? Highly recruited QB vs. Highly recruited QB rebuffed.

Apples and oranges. You have two guys in different systems at different schools playing for different coaches and with different teammates. Let's say one has a group of receivers who spend the year dropping passes (hard to imagine) ... that doesn't mean the quarterback doesn't have talent or the coaches can't coach. There are a lot of factors that go in to the success of an offense.

How did Cam Newton go from being "the next NFL star QB" last year to a middle of the road guy this year? Did he forget how to play? Did the Carolina coaches forget how to coach? Did teams figure out how to defend him better? Did his offensive line get worse? Did his receivers lay an egg?

I hope Kolney pans out. I guess I wish the other guy well, but really don't care.

Kolney Cassell was highly recruited? By Harvard?

I had a similar thought when I read SMUer's post.

I have never seen Kolney Cassell play, but I have watched Zach play many times from grade school through high school. Zach has a great arm and exceptional mechanics. He would have come to SMU if he had been offered a scholarship.

For whomever suggested that he could walk on at SMU instead of accepting a scholarship to TCU, my guess is that you do not have college aged children and you are not currently paying tuition. I would venture a guess that we will see Zach play at Ford Stadium in the future, and we will regret that he is wearing that putrid purple.
