Exactly. White, drunk, spoiled frat boys act like this? No way! :roll Doubt that individual Okie SAE chapter made that up out of the blue as well. Here comes reverend Al & Eric Holder!

I attended several frat parties at SMU and I never once heard anything like what was said on that video. Lumping every wealthy white kid in a frat into the same bowl as these little [deleted] is stupid. Most of the frat guys I know at SMU are some of the most supportive and passionate SMU alumni in the country. Many of these individuals are footing the bill for HCCM and LB and most of the capital projects that are either completed or will be completed here in the next few years. The sad reality is that videos like these only enhance the stereotype. But throwing everyone into the same mix is stupid and short sided.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Drunk college student say and do stupid things all the time. I bet most of the kids in then video have minority friends and wouldn't discriminate in any other setting. Not excusing their behavior at all, but I think people should have some perspective. This wasn't a lynch mob, or an assault, or a hate rally. This was a bunch of drunk kids in a hyper tribal setting insulting a group of "others" who weren't present in what they thought was a private setting. They need to be held accountable for their behavior but anyone writing these kids off or the fraternity system in general as a result of this is being unfair.

I think I read somewhere that this kid was a very soft commit. There are probably a myriad of reasons why he has decided to reopen his recruitment.

I'm somewhat skeptical that recruit X decided not to attend a historical, prestigious power-five football program that has experienced great success and offers great amenities because on a campus of 30,000 plus in a single incident a bunch of ass-hats completely unrelated to the football program (which, let's be honest, across America have VERY little personal interaction with varsity athletes) decided it'd just be grand to engage in a racist chant in unison that has since become very public.
I'm a soulless cynic, and until I see more it seems like an opportune time to "take the high ground" and de-commit without seeming that it's his fault.

http://deadspin.com/sae-was-founded-at- ... 1690525220In his initial statement, Delance, from North Texas, merely cited "personal reasons," and wrote that his it "had nothing to do with the staff or team." But in an interview with Fox4News in Dallas, Delance confirmed that his decision had everything to do with what he saw on that video. "It was very disturbing. I never thought that stuff was still trendy as much as it was back then or it could keep repeating itself. It was very disturbing. I didn't like what was going on. I'm glad the way they handled it but that's still a bad downside to me." He says it bothered him that OU athletics staff, including Bob Stoops, didn't keep him in the loop as the controversy was breaking—only reaching out after he had made public his decision to decommit. (Delance now says he has an offer from Alabama, and seems excited about it.) Stoops may have been busy. Yesterday morning, he and a number of Oklahoma players joined in a campus protest denouncing the video and the sentiments within.

Sounded like Delance was already on his way out of OU before this controversy emerged. I think it was a convenient out for him

He was bothered that the head football coach didn't keep "in the loop" a high school student who has yet to enroll about a huge issue occurring on his campus as it occurred because he was with his current players to address the issue in a public manner? Yeah, sure thing champ.

There's certainly no better place to escape this kind of racism than the University of Alabama.

Another student in the incident was apparently from Highland Park.
