I wanted either Joe Wallace or McLaurin for this spot so I'm very happy.
Get him on those SARM's

Rivals rating system is fine -as long as you disregard everything you used to think a 3+ was. Under the old system SMU would have 14-15 3stars

I get the sense that really high quality DTs are the "hen's tooth" of football recruits. Sounds like we've got one!! Hang onto him, and great job!!

Lets not forget that the fact that he committed to us now should indicate he won't be scared off by a crappy W-L record this year.

OH NO! HE'S ONLY A RIVALS TWO STAR!!!! CHAD DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE"S DOING!!!!!!!!!
But wait, I need someone else to say that I said something that I didn't say!!! Good pickup at a position of need. Like the Boise offer and then two lower end P5 offers. Toledo has a good program as well. Kind of an odd collection of offers? Stallion, out of curiosity, what makes you think this guy is ready NOW? I think the staff MO to this point has been to redshirt linemen (although we will see if that stays true after the bye week)?

JasonB I have almost every video on the internet I can find on about 22 of our 23 recruits from their Senior year on this Recruiting page. That's a small fraction of the research I've done on these recruits including other videos from their Junior year and camps. You're such a great defensive analyst why don't you watch his videos where he is manhandling the opposition and give us your keen insight. Here's a good place to start. 4 game highlites from newest commit Look for the Big guy at DT wearing No. 5 Fossil Ridge-2 sacks, 1 QB hurry and 1 Fumble caused Timber Creek-2 Tackles for loss Keller Central-QB hurry, Tackle for loss, Tackle for 1 yard gain Byron Nelson- 5 Tackles for loss (one on goal line) and 2 QB hurries http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/ken-mcl ... videos.htm

Hey look just named the Scout Midlands Recruit of the Week (about a 5 state area) which includes a detailed analysis and scouting report. But JasonB is concerned I'm sure he isn't a Rivals 3 star http://www.scout.com/college/football/r ... 0-22?s=357

I was just asking the question because I wanted to hear your thoughts. I haven't watched any video on the guy and figured you had. And I don't think you have been a big fan of not redshirting linemen in the past.

and Zelt Minor had 28.5 sacks and 38 tackles for loss, all while throwing opponents around like rag dolls on film, his senior year at one of the best 5a schools in Houston. Monkeys throwing darts trying to project these young guys. He may be a total outlier, he may just as easily redshirt.

The game plan for most Coaches attempting total rebuilds-is to play most recruits that are physically ready to contribute and turn the roster over as soon as possible. You develop experience in the younger classes so they can override the higher rated talent at better schools where recruits have to ride the pine a few years. Then while they are Seniors and Juniors you have about 18 returning starters with 3 or 4 years experience and you actually have an advantage over schools that may have recruited better than you in the past. You start wholesale redshirting once you have developed depth in the program and can afford to allow them redshirt. There are going to be unprecedented numbers of redshirt freshman and true freshman contributing on defense next year. Plus young defensive lineman play much more than young offensive linemen
