Brewer looks ok. Looks like he could put on about 20 pounds. Had all day to throw the ball. I'm sure he has all the tools, well coached, seems to run well. Happy we landed him and the other Brewer.
Next year QB depth:
1: Davis (RS senior) 2: Peavy (RS junior - will probably play quite a bit even if Davis is here and at the 1 spot) 3: Hicks (Soph - will probably play some, getting great experience this year to be a very good backup and maybe quality starter by junior/senior year?) 4: Colbert (Sr - if he's still here) 4/5: Brewer (RS HS - redshirts, if all works out, he'll be super ready by soph/junior year to be a stud for us in 2018/2019)

If Matt Davis is the starter next year, I'm not expecting a bowl

We cannot waste a developmental year for a young QB in favor of Matt. This team must continue to develop and finding a QB for several seasons is paramount.

Spring QB Battle
1: Peavy (RS junior) 2: Gillins (RS Junior) 3: Hicks
* Caveats: I left Davis off the list only because I doubt he will be back for Spring Practice.
For the first time in at least a decade, we are going to have three legitimate (4 if you count Davis) COMPETE for the starting job at QB. All of them are 3 star (or better) QB prospects with multiple offers from P5 programs.
Best of all, we will have depth if anyone gets hurt.

Brewer is planning to early-enroll

Colbert can stay on the team, but there is no way that he is going to beat out Peavy, Gillins, Hicks, and/or Davis. Note - I left Brewer off my list because I think that it is extremely unlikely that he beats out that crew for the 2017 starting job. Unless he shocks and amazes, I expect him to redshirt. But, I wouldn't be shocked if he starts/plays significant minutes as a RS freshman.

I doubt he beats anyone out either but the subject was competition and the more there are the better it is. And he was even with Hicks when the year started.

I know. But, considering how he injured himself AFTER Davis got injured, I doubt the coaches will ever trust him.

We will enter the spring with good competition at the QB, WR, and RB spots for the first time in a long time (even TE...). That is a great step forward and sign of the continued growth and maturation of this program and the process. Need to get that same competition level to the OL and DL and we will really see things start to trend skyward.
And I believe the answer to your questions Malonish is that one should not react to epic PlayStation defeats by taking out your frustrations on solid inanimate objects...like punching walls. He might want to move to another position to get playing time.
