Dieter commitsModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Dieter commitsHe's in. And it takes a lot of focus to graduate/enroll early. Congrats!
Dieter commitsThat's grrrreat! Hope he learns a lot from the guys in spring practice.
Re: Dieter commitsBetter have a full time tutor lined up to do his homework and take exams for him. His 3.4 GPA is allegedly as bogus as the 4.5 40 yard dash time. His HS has been in the news constantly the last 2 years for cheating (ineligible players) and academic failure. Oh yeah ... then there is the small problem of his humongous ego, mental immaturity and poor sportsmanship. Yes indeed, Pony fans, you got a real gem. Good luck breaking the colt. Better start with a muzzle.

Re: Dieter commits
You must be a sore KU fan. Anyway he had a good enough SAT score to get into SMU and we have good tutors anyway. He worked hard enough to graduate early so I am not worried about academic at all at this point. Last edited by SMU 86 on Fri Jan 06, 2012 10:55 am, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Dieter commitsWhat am I going to do today? You know what? I'm going to go to a Notre Dame fan board, create a name like "Domer Doodie" and rant on-and-on about what a complete idiot imbecile poop-for-brains Notre Dame recruit William Mahone is. I'm going to tell them "good luck", "boy you got a dud", "he's going to ruin your program" and feel really good about myself.
Dieter commitsI am amazed that some people have such miserable lives that they have to go to other school boards and bash a kid
Re: Dieter commitsPony Breeder, you don't get invited to play in All-American games because you only wreck shop on JV teams, someone, actually a lot of people, have to think you are a top recruiting prospect. We're excited with have a 6-3 aggressive outside receiver, something SMU hasn't had since...what...Bobby Chase in 2005? I don't think any of us expect him to put up 437 yards every game in C-USA but he's a solid looking outside receiver prospect. As for his attitude, 90% of WRs worth their salt have major egotistical attitudes. It goes with the position. Jones has handled NFL prima-donnas and college recruits who had served prison terms...if he does in fact have an attitude problem, June's got this one. College is humbling and I think it is unfair to not give anyone the benefit of the doubt. He's going to go from being one of the best players on his HS team, to a lost freshman competing with guys just as fast and just as physical as he is. At the same time he is being welcomed into the SMU family. A lot of things change between high school and college ball.
As for his head, enrolling late and mid-term at any school is difficult but I guarantee you it's a sonofabeast at SMU unless you have a decent SAT score and HS GPA. If you've followed SMU recruiting at all, you've learned that no matter how bad our coaches want certain recruits in school, they have to meet SMU's minimum requirements, no ifs-ands-or-butts about it. There's no side-door enrollment for SMU's athletic department like there may be at other schools. To insinuate he was cheating in school with no evidence is irresponsible, and it's crazy to imply that he cheated ALL through high school, AND on his SAT and nobody was the wiser. To me, the fact that he is enrolling early clearly shows you have no idea what you are talking about.
Re: Dieter commitsPony Breeder,
You are an ill-bred coward to make accusations about a young man's character while hiding behind the cloak of anonymity. Get a life and get off of our board!
Re: Dieter commitsI really am glad SMU landed Dieter, but I guess Jayhawk fans can take comfort in landing a pretty good replacement -- 5-star OU transfer, Justin McCay. That makes 3 5-star transfers already.
Re: Dieter commits
Those are good pick ups. Weis will help turn around that program versus what they had before. Weis just couldn't handle the high demands from a ND program - but expectations are all relative. I suspect he'll do well in Kansas.

Re: Dieter commits
Indiana Rules = Gehrig Dieter. Or Daddy Dieter. Or Mommy Dieter. The Three Stooges. 3 legends in their own minds.
Re: Dieter commits
why so bitter?
Re: Dieter commitsPony Breeder is either one of the players or coaches from one of the teams that faced Dieter and had to watch him "Piling up meaningless yards."
Re: Dieter commitsWhat you got in Gehrig Dieter is a sure handed receiver that runs precise routs. In HS he was almost like another coach out on the field. His mind for football is incredible on both sides of the ball. I am not some homer either, I used to travel almost 3 hours to see this guys games. As far as character goes, Dieter is the kind of kid that went and found his family after the record setting game instead of beating his chest. He is the kind of guy that finds kids playing sandlot football and gets in the game. Gehrig and his brother Nolan started a clothing drive for homeless people. As far as his grades go, this kid is smart. No matter what people outside of the situation have to say, you can take this to the bank when I say it....SMU landed a exceptionable athlete and an even better human being. Your fanbase has spread because of this signing.
