Let Johnny Rock whine now. Because if/when these players become good collegiate players, he'll be remarkably silent. Or he'll be telling us how he knew all along what a great recruiter Coach Bennett is. In the meantime, he's doing his best to dissuade any recruits reading this board from making the best possible choice: SMU.
Go PONIES!
JR is a blow hard who is this cat

Re:
Has SCAMPI put up with a team that has only had one winning season since 1989? Does she like seeing her hard earned dollars be used to field teams that often cannot even compete with their opponent?
What makes you think SCAMP's a "she"? Either way, SCAMP has shown more support for the Ponies in a short time on this site than you could muster in a lifetime. SCAMP is someone who understands what it means to be a fan, not just whine and complain in a feeble attempt to make someone thinks you care. (Attention recruits: please don't consider JR indicative of the level of support you'll get from real PonyFans.) If it bothers you so much, we'll make a deal with you: keep both of the hard-earned dollars you claim to have donated, and go away from this board forever, OK? If you notice that handy little banner at the top, it says "PonyFANS." Look it up.
Hey snob either you love the MUSTANGS or hate your money

PonySnob...SCAMP is a he, and I know what he has put up with is raising two young men who grew up to be Ponies. And I don't think any of the three of them want to see a successful program any less than you, me, or any of the rest of us. Believe me, I've been cranky since hmmmm let's see the post-Thanksgiving massacre to TCU in 2000 & the Navy debacle after that. We've all put up with a lot. I don't think of this forum as a commiseration society, though.
Scamp, you are in the vast majority

Back to the supposed topic of the thread...
It's way early and I'm behind on my research, but so far of our recruits I really like RB James Mapps and DT Chase Smith. I like Mapps because he was on the coaches' wish list going back to last fall. There are highly rated blue chip players and there are diamonds in the rough, and Mapps name was prominent among all the kids (many of whom - like the DT Granger - we didn't have a realistic shot at) who expressed any degree of interest in SMU. I like Chase Smith because he reminds me of Alan Adami. He's got that killer gleam in his eye, and at 18, is already bigger than Adami ever was. He's currently 282 lbs., has a 36 inch waist, and can bench 400 (albeit not strict, he has to bounch it off his chest a bit). If we get Des. Jones back, if Bonds continues to drop weight and if Smith, Delay and/or Mouton pans out, we might just have a dandy rotation at DT.
The Desmond Jones injury is a dicey thing. I gather he's expected back in time for 2-a-days, but considering the pressure and torque applied on the knees for defensive tackles, that's hard to guess. But I hear Mouton looks good, Bonds looks slimmer and DeLay looks thicker. Haven't heard an update on Randy Denman. I also have heard that Hunter Shipp, although small, is picking up the position fast -- although apparently he needs to pick up pounds just as quickly. In an ideal world, both DT Chase Smith and DT Brad Lankford would be able to redshirt. Somehow I think at least one of them will be asked to contribute next year.
