And to answer your question, this is my place to vent my frustrations among other SMU fans, and perhaps even to some who can wield true influence over the powers that be, something that sending e-mails to the AD has never seemed to accomplish. And I've tried it. Bottom line, this is a chat board for chatting about issues regarding SMU, and it's where I choose to chat. Nothing more, nothing less.
And you do chat a lot.

From Rivals:
"With the recent decommitment of Jonathan Sloan from SMU, coaches lined up to see the 6'8" Richardson Pearce post player. He didn't disappoint as many mid-major colleges left extremely pleased with his combination of post moves off the block and soft shots from 8 feet out. Sloan also rebounded and played better then he has in recent months and will once again see his recruitment begin to build. He hovered around the 14 point mark during Texas Top Prospects North's two bracket play games before getting pumped by the Urban Kings out of Oklahoma by the score of 68-66."

Sloan had a very solid performance at Great American Shootout. He looked good.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

Sloan just committed to Texas State, according to Rivals. Sloan will study Exercise and Health Science while at Texas State. "I want to coach," said Sloan. "I don't know if it will be high school or college. It will depend where I have the best opportunity.
While it sounds like Doherty decided to go in another direction in the case of Sloan, this brings up the point that maybe SMU should be offering classes like this to get the top recruits!

Texas State is a couple of notches below us on the college hoops pecking order. They are in the Southland. Tubbs scheduled a game there for us, a big no-non in hoops.
By him going to Texas State, that means Doherty believed his talent level didn't cut it at this level.

reading between the lines of some earlier reports I'm almost certain we cut him loose as early as July.

Sloan had offers from Boise State, Idaho, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, and a few others. He is also ranked 33 in the state, and we just got a commitment from Robert, whos ranked 76 and barely played on varsity last year. While Sloan was MVP of his district. I think its obvious that Sloan chose them because of the academics and location. Not everybody is going to be a professional athlete, and Texas State has one of the top programs in the country for his degree. Beleive it or not, not everybody wants to an SMU mustang.

Maybe it wasn't the school but the new schools, i remember the article of Texashoops.com where he declared that he was uncommitted to SMU right after we hired Doherty.
