Greatest post ever.
Although you still may end up working in a lumberyard for the rest of your life.

I sincerely appreciate all the jokes. Please know that I was not serious with my statement either.

Colonel Sandurz: He's an assh0le sir.
Dark Helmet: I know that! What's his name?
Colonel Sandurz: That is his name sir. Assh0le, Major Assh0le!

Well, he would get to play with a bunch of [deleted].
Just kidding for those of you overly protective of our players.

But when we do sign a player who got Offers (per rivals) from Baylor, Boston College, Colorado State, Houston, and Standford there is no real positive response from Stallion, besides a "he'll do". I really don't care because as much as people love to talk trash about Stallion he is not blinded by all the BS talk at SMU.
What 'BS talk' in this situation? You say that this guy was 'plucked out from under [Bennett's] nose'. We offered the guy, no? Do you think we did not follow up enough? To say we did not implies that you are in the know. To me, it's math and facts. Phil/SMU offered. Todd/Rice offered. Nathan chose Todd. If you are going to speculate, then speculate why. He likes Houston. Todd is a better coach than Phil, and his record at Tulsa proves it. Todd is on more solid ground than Bennett. Major Applewhite is an inspirational guy, and we do not have an equivalent. Rice is a better academic institution than SMU. SMU is too close to home for him. None of this is hyperbole, and most of it can be backed up argumentatively in a sentence or less, or by simply asking Nathan. Stolen? Whatever. He was never SMU's to be stolen. Call this rationalization all you want; it is what it is.

OC, Re-read the thread.
I was talking about how I think it is funny that when we lose a kid to Rice Stallion says "Todd Graham plucks yet another from right under Bennett's nose" but when we sign a kid who has MORE offers from BETTER schools than Rice he just says "He'll do just fine", like the kid we signed is just ok but the player we lost was the missing link.
But at the same time, we should never expect or be okay with losing any recruit.

I am not arguing that. We have got to do better. Period.
Just pointing out that I thought it was funny that when we lose a kid who had offers to Baylor, Rice and SMU you say "he was plucked out right from under Phil's nose", but when we get a kid with offers from Baylor, Boston College, Colorado State, Houston, and Standford you say "He'll do." Just think it is a little dramatic I guess.
None of it really matters. I am glad you are here to make sure the sunshiners don't rule the board - and I am glad the sunshiners are here to make sure the Dark Side doesn't take over, needs to be a happy medium of both.

I'm actually relieved that Texas Football picked us worst. They don't know anything, and you know that, Stallion.
That being said, we need to do a better job recruiting. Period.

This kid is thinking with the wrong head if he is chosing Rice over SMU. Once he gets on the Rice campus this fall and sees all the dogs, hogs and other unfortunate looking females of the Rice student body, he will realize what a mistake he made.
I hope he loves girls just for their brains, because that's all he'll have down there. But how many 18 year olds just love girls for their brains??

If he gets into Rice, then they have easier enterance requirements than UNT. Without the "help" of Allen coaches, he couldn't stay eligible in high School

to complete the [deleted] bio most recent Rivals' story reporting his commitment says he had offers from SMU, Baylor, Houston, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, and Tulsa. Outstanding commitment for Rice and Todd Graham.
