It's all about weather, chicks, education, new practice facility, Dallas and Dohboy selling the big
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones

Confirmation on the Wichita St. fan's observations from a Kansas newspaper
Hoops scoop
Garrett Stutz, a 7-foot center from Kansas City, Mo., is no longer considering K-State, his high school coach said Saturday.
North Kansas City coach Jim Hinrich said Stutz, who visited Manhattan earlier this fall, has narrowed his list to Kentucky, SMU and Wichita State

come on down, big guy...and play for coach Doherty as he revives this once proud SMU hoops program.
I think we went something like 7-21 in Jon Koncak's 1st year, but he finished pretty well at SMU and went on to have a pretty long NBA career

Is this Jim Hinrich, Kirk Hinrich's Dad? If so, was Kirk recruited to Kansas by Doh when he was on Roy's staff?

A little more from the Wichita paper this morning:
All three schools offer coaches with a history of success and NCAA Tournament experience. Marshall went to seven tournaments in nine seasons at Winthrop. Kentucky's Billy Gillispie took Texas A&M to the Sweet 16 last season. SMU's Matt Doherty coached Notre Dame to the NIT championship game and won an ACC co-championship with North Carolina.
"I think he feels very comfortable with Coach Marshall," Bill Stutz said. "He definitely likes playing for a coach who has proven himself. That's a huge thing with him."
Garrett Stutz took unofficial visits to WSU in late August and late September. He originally considered offers from schools such as Nebraska, Kansas State, Saint Louis and Northwestern. Connecticut and Marquette recruited him, but did not offer scholarships, according to Bill Stutz.
Recruits can sign beginning Nov. 14. Bill Stutz said his son may make his decision by then.
"I think he's got all the info he needs," Bill Stutz said.

New Rivals article indicates that Stutz still has it down to the 3 schools. Kentucky still has not offered. He is hoping to hear from this week to see if they plan to make an offer.

Update: Stutz dropped in for his 3rd unofficial visit to WSU Saturday night to take in our exhibition vs. Arkansas Tech. WSU fans are hoping that he saw where he can step in and get immediate playing time as the Shocks demonstrated very little post game against a smaller opponent.
I still think it's between WSU and SMU. I don't expect Kentucky to offer, though he's supposed to get a call from them this week.
