If hw is doing TAWA that limit goes away.
I love the fact the he wrestles and most likely understands leverage and changing levels. Yes quick feet are a plus too.
BIG MEN LEAD
Some states in the past have had an unlimited weight class. Not sure if CA does but it would explain him at wrestling weighing north of 300
State championships have a cut off of 285lbs in California. I saw a couple of results from tournaments this year that had Evan wrestling in the 275lb class (HWT) so sounds like his reported weight might be a little off.

I read an article on this kid that had him at 6' 2" 295. I could not find a date but if correct, I doubt his height has gone down.
He is a wrestler and a football player. He stays active and has to be somewhat agile. I am comfortable he is ok to play whatever his height and weight may be.

With that information, it sounds more like he could become a dominant DT/NT. I hope so, because we could really use some help in that area.

Wrestlers are well known for massive weight swings during wrestling season.

Massive and dangerous. Wrestling coaches are notorious for encouraging players to shed large amounts of weight in a dangerously short period of time.

One thing that I'm surprised nobody has mentioned is that he will become stronger and more fit when Vic gets ahold of him. I would highly doubt that his playing weight will actually be 330. I would think that the coaches would want him more around 300 for agility and explosiveness.

I'm pretty certain he is. he was hired by SO, and runs the Strength & Cond. for the athletic dept, not the FB team. we have a FB specific strength coach too.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

And, I believe we have a basketball specific strength coach also. Specialization seems to be the name of the game.

the quote from his uncle is "he'll be evaluated by the coaches and a decision will be made about OL vs DL" - but the coaches told him they think he can contribute right away.
Without knowing who the D-Coordinator is going to be or what scheme we will run, I wouldn't rule out anything. If he's a wrestler and has quick feet and understands leverage, I would not rule him out as a DT...either playing alongside Serge or subbing for him (if we go with a 3-4 or 3-3-5 look)
I will also admit that if I was a QB or RB, I'd like the idea of this guy opposite LeRibeus as OGs protecting/leading me the next several years.

First I would like to say how proud we are to be a part of your family and that we thank God for this wonderful opportunity. Thank you for all the kind comments regarding our son. I'll be happy to address some of the issues everyone is wondering about.
Evan is a Senior at Servite High School in Anaheim California. His height is 6'2" and he currently weighs 285 lbs. which is the maximum weight for heavyweight wrestlers in California. His highest weight during football season was around 326 lbs. He very cautiously cut weight for wrestling under the careful supervision of his coaches. He feels that his optimum weight is around the 280-290 lb. range.
Currently Evan is undefeated in League with his last League match tonight against Saint John Bosco High School. Please say a prayer that Evan prevails and moves on to CIF, the Masters and then State.
Again, we are SO proud to be a part of the Mustang Family and look forward to the very successful program that June Jones brings to SMU.
If someone can instruct me as to how to post photos here I would be happy to do so. Thanks
