It would be interesting to see a comparison of this guy's size and speed from last fall to the present. Late bloomers can have significant increases. For example, David Robinson was 6'6" when he was recruited, but showed up at Navy as a seven footer.

My guess is that this kid can really move his feet and is being recruited as a left tackle to take on the speed rushers that we will face, not unlike HP's Zach Boyd of a year ago.

The word is that the coaches were thrilled to get this commitment.

I'm sure the coaches are thrilled. They wouldn't give a scholarship to someone they knew couldn't play. I think what the masses don't understand is how a guy goes from JV to a d-1 school without ever playing varsity. I have complete confidence in JJ but I would like to see a scouting report on this guy except that he has great feet and may grow to 7'.

Not exactly sure I said this guy was going to become a seven footer.

But I do know this...we have the most original, creative, outside-the-box coach in the country. Almost everything he does is done differently than the norm, from scheme, game planning, practice regimen, personnel, to recruiting. And it works for him.

So, rather than pace the floor and second guess, I prefer to sit back and enjoy the ride.

I just want more info on him.

I know JJ is a great guy who is a football genius.

I believe his father played in the NFL, so he's expected to keep growing.

Nobody with the last name "Favreau" has ever played in the NFL per Pro-football-reference.com.

Edit: There was a Mike Favreau at UMass in 1983 that led the team in tackles and sacks. No idea if the same guy.

Better take back his scholarship then.

So in the past week, we have taken 2 "gambles", if one of the "gambles" pays off was it the right move?

Does anyone know who started in front of him on varsity last year? This might give us some indication on why he played on JV.

Maybe he dominated JV and was blocked by someone who was entrenched at their position, similar to Riley Dodge.

Also, I do realize that there are five offensive line positions and he likely could have played any one of those positions, but maybe the coaches at Coppel wanted to keep him at a certain position.

Maybe it's Brett Favre - I heard he put his son in the witness protection program to keep John Madden away from him so he could have a normal life.

I think his Dad is in his mid-40s, so that would fit the age group

I'm hoping he was a transfer and couldn't play varsity last year (don't know if that rule still applies). I know something was said about him being at Coppell as a sophomore. If he can't start as a junior somewhere on the line, it's a head scratcher

I went to every Coppell games for 8 years but I haven't been in a couple of years. They produce some d-1 talent on a regular basis but their O-Line is the typical HS O-Line--most are undersized and will never see d-1. I remeber a big OT who went to UT a few years ago and started for awhile. Maybe this guy was injured or ineligible for whatever reason. I trust that JJ sees something in him. Can he play D?

Good question. If he were in the top 5 in tackles on JV last season I would feel MUCH more confident about this.
