Bs - doubt they pulled an offer from a local HS kid. If anything , the better WR commits recently meant less PT and the kid probably realized that.

These handlers and crap if these kids need reality checks. Your boy simply isn't as good as the newer commits we got - accept that and move on. Morris is too smart to do that and in fact publicly said all offers would be honored.

We wouldn't have pulled an offer without just cause.

Either the kid didn't get his SAT numbers and we couldn't afford to wait any longer, or there is some smoke around the other SOC players also getting dropped. Getting three players dropped in a short period of time smells funny.

Disappointed that the SOC is frustrated with all of that and taking it out on SMU, but CM wouldn't have just dropped a guy 1 week before signing date unless there was a legit reason for it.

Wisconsin yanked schollies from two other SOC DB's recently.

Horrible speculation...out on a shaky limb crap here, but with KF having issues regarding potential grade manipulation and DISD undergoing another self-inflicted emotional spasm about athlete grades/privilege, could there be a link? With just our guy, and with his stated worry regarding his SAT scores (already know you have an issue if you are worried about your final semester SAT being required to make yourself eligible for NCAA participation), it would seem to be isolated. Multiple offers being yanked could indicate a larger problem.

Lord, I sound like the idiots trying to say we are about to get hammered in basketball!

You want the truth? Can You Handle the Truth?
:D
If this kid was Eric Dickerson we'd wait to see if he qualified
But when you are the lowest ranked recruit, without the skills to fit into a new offense and were offered by a dismissed predecessor-you'd better be fully qualified early so you don't hand the new Coach a reason to cut you loose.

I think Stallion has it exactly right. SMU needs to sign recruits who they are sure will be able to play (from an academic standpoint) at SMU. IF you take a chance on waiting for someone to become academically acceptable you should do that only with an exceptional athlete.
I am sure the coaches will make it very clear going forward to recruits. It is certainly harder when they come in mid year and are not sure what the Jones staff communicated to them.

Gives me a headache trying to read these things.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Did I see Kimball? Oh lord...I don't want to have anything to do with anyone that has even one iota of questions who is coming out of Kimball right now. The indigestion factory strikes again! Already a great class, undoubtedly more key commits will announce in the next week, and we are on our way to a big first season of HCCM and friends. Any negative press (and I truly doubt many, if any, would be swayed by the obviously persuasive arguments offered on the above twitter feeds) will be long forgotten and replaced by desire to join the movement when they see this team in action.

Is it possible that maybe SMU didn't drop him but rather coach Mathis offended him?isn't Mathis the rb coach? Just saying if someone pulled my scholarship during recruiting my first person I point the finger at wouldn't be a position coach, who is likely the messenger after all

Bill Embody

It's funny people are saying it's @coachcmathis' fault Lamont Johnson isn't in #SMU's class. Doesn't have anything to do with him.
