White Helmet wrote:Weak to poor...how about atrocious. The dude had the slowest shuttle the 2nd slowest 3 cone drill, the lowest vertical and 2nd lowest broad jump of any OT tested at any scout combines. That is not weak or poor that is just sad, a 13.5" vertical is embarrassing, even for some one that big.
Okay, but does he put his opponents on their AS5? That's all I care about. You and Stallion can get excited about 40 times of o-linemen all you want. If he pushes people around in games, I want him on my team.

Fatbodies usually do better in High School where the weight differential is so much greater. Sure, sometimes they can make the jump but more often than not... there's a reason he isn't getting much attention.

It is not just his 40 time it is also his shuttle which shows he also has no lateral movement which is important, especially for pass protection, might be important when we throw the ball 80 times a game. Also the vertical shows he has no explosion in his legs which is where most of an OL power and leverage come from, most every OT at those combines had at least 10" more on their vertical even at the same kind of weights.

With his frame, do you think the problems can be remedied by moving him into the weight room and getting him stronger, or is it simply lack of athletic talent and genetics?

He might just be soft and a college weight program will help anyone, even you or me, we just dont get the opportunity. It just worries me that everyone at these combines is a HS player and they all outpaced him. He may not have put in the weight room time or he might be from a extremely weak program. Personally I would like to see how he grows in to his Sr year and preforms at another combine, before we even think of offering him.

I'd like to see him develop and come here as a preferred walk-on

Size can be good, but sometimes doesn't mean a thing. Back in high school I played outside linebacker and played a game where I was matched up against a 6'6, 315 lbs tackle for the whole game. I was only a decent player, but at 6' and about 180lbs I pretty much ran through and around him all day. His blocking pretty much felt like a pillow being pushed by a tractor. That being said, size is nothing if you don't have any athleticism or aggressiveness to go with it. This guys numbers are atrocious. 13" vert?

No, The Art Institute of Dallas and Texas Women's University were his top 2. Lew Sterritt was a default choice!
