JUCO All-America to visit SMU?Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?The film of him was scary...with his moves and speed. He was listed only at 3 Stars...although his talent seemed to show more. If he had been in Texas, he might of been a 4 Star athlete. Go Mustangs!
Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?I just looked at the Rivals and Scout boards for NM State and couldn't find any info on him over there. Is this flying under their radar somehow?

Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?Go to rivals and look for database...then put in 2010 and type in kenny turner and it will show *** and 5.5 rating...not much on him!
Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?throw out ratings in this type of situation. Anybody with 2 eyes can see he's one of the top RB recruits in the country-and this is his first year after sitting out 5-6 years unless you count playing for Burt Reynolds and the Mean Machine

Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?Stallion, good one - A+.
That brace doesn't seem to slow him down much. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. What are the odds of us getting him? An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and

Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?Give the kid a break. I do believe that after two knee injuries he would stay for the degree he now knows that you are only one injury from never playing again.

Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?All I am saying he moves great for a guy that has obviously had a injury. I had to wear a brace, and it wasn't fun or easy to play in (soccer). Not taking a dig at the kid.

Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?I know he had an ACL to start the 2009 season but when was this second knee injury you guys keep talking about. I know he finished the year healthy because he ran for 248 yards in the last playoff game-not too worried from what my eyes tell me.

Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?Here's his stat page but I think he played in another playoff game and ran for about 248 yards; Started the season with only 54 yards so he really came on as he got over his injury

Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?make that 258 yards rushing in his final game-a playoff loss. Oh and on a stat sheet from another site-add 3 catches for 97 yards for 355 yards from scrimmage-not too worried about the knee

Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?
You've made a huge overestimation of interest in us. Negative press will be limited. If he verbals, he'll sign and be playing this fall and will become a feelgood story if he stays clean and plays well. We'll really be second guessed if he creates waves. The few ex-cons I know stay REALLY clean...
Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?If I read the Orlando newspaper article correctly, it appears his father is a minister. One would hope that his up bringing has a very positive Christian influence and that his criminal act was not fully comensurate with the real person. Also, his father's ministry and minister status might be given special consideration making him a PK ( preacher's kid; old term from my day) and afforded special consideration for admission in accordance with long standing SMU policy.
Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?
This isn't about interest in us, it's about interest in the story. I've seen it before, many times. Look at what's happened here, 6 pages dedicated to the conversation, some pro, some con. When he signs, this thread will grow, as well as other threads. Other schools will catch wind, it'll reach their boards, then it'll make national boards etc. If you don't think SMU, school of the DP, who overpays a profile head coach, only to give him unilateral control of roster decisions, who brings in convicts, isn't a story, guess again. It's the slippery slope “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones

If he's a model citizen, it's going to be a feel good story about redemption.
Re: JUCO All-America to visit SMU?
Continuing with my original thought and thinking outside the window. If Turner were a PK he could enjoy a no pay tuition situation at SMU, attend as a regular student and be invited as a perferred walk-on. This way all interests are protected. Turner plays football, tuition is handled by an endowment not associated with atletics and the Athletic Department takes no heat for his admission.
