Re: Time to panic yet?We have become a respectable upper tier CUSA team to this point under Jones. Time will show you how miserably wrong you are in suggesting that we abandon ship just as we're beginning to reap the rewards of hiring this guy, a year or two away from top 25 status and not many more away from having Jones do here what he did at Hawaii -- take us to the highest level possible for a non-BCS-affiliated team. Your suggestion that we consider moving on with another guy goes as single the stupidest thing I've seen in a long time, so stupid it's breathtaking.
Re: Time to panic yet?I have no desire to be Hawaii...if that's what he is building count me out...
I think we would all love to get our assz kicked in BCS bowl, but I want a program like the one we should be following over in Ft. worthless..... Sign me up for that...when we start even trending towards them I will get back on the wagon, but we have the fin blueprint right down the road and we refuse to follow.... Everything you post is naive...calling something stupid is no way to make friends...
Re: Time to panic yet?I'm sorry, Nick. But you're not thinking.
In 2008, a June-Jones-led Hawaii team beat the University of Washington in the last game of the season to go undefeated in the regular season and taking Hawaii to a #10 ranking and a berth in the Sugar Bowl. You don't want that?
Re: Time to panic yet?I'll take that, but...
I want this... 2005 TCU 11–1 8–0 1st W Houston 9 11 2006 TCU 11–2 6–2 2nd W Poinsettia 21 22 2007 TCU 8–5 4–4 5th W Texas 2008 TCU 11–2 7–1 2nd W Poinsettia 7 7 2009 TCU 12–1 8–0 1st L Fiesta †6 6 2010 TCU 13–0 8–0 1st W Rose †2 2 and then I want this... Southern Methodist University invited into The Big East or whatever BCS conference needs us... If they can do it...we certainly can...
Re: Time to panic yet?Pull up Sagarin when you get a chance. There are two hundred and forty two teams who want that.
So you think abandoning June Jones at the end of year three, after two consecutive bowl games, just as we are starting to get rolling, is the right course of action? And who, pray tell, do you plan to put in his place?
Re: Time to panic yet?The more frustrating part is that he did that at Hawaii, with no recruiting budget, no players and no facilities.
Sorry, but with all we provide, I expect more...He left Hawaii because they didnt give him enough support...we give him tons and he doesn't use them... He interviews for other jobs while here. One right before a bowl game, the guy seems to have a lot of wants but no desire to take advantage of them when they happen... I was a huge fan, go back and look at the posts...but in my opinion we are being outworked and thats BS...at these prices...
Re: Time to panic yet?
You want to know of those 240 teams which has every opportunity TCU has.... SMU....budget, facillities, recruiting grounds, location...ect....In fact we are favorable to them in every way except they work hard and we hardly work...
Re: Time to panic yet?I agree. We've got everything they had during that run and more. But if you're going to suggest we get a new coach, I want to know who you had in mind, who is better at rebuilds than our current coach. Because we're in a rebuild situation, if you didn't remember.
Re: Time to panic yet?I would just like to see 7 OR 8 regular season wins .TALK about BCS for smu is a joke now and will be probably forever.
SMU can't even get people to games. It has the gameday feel of less than Tyler Junior college .... Remember the game day atmosphere of the UCF game in CUSA? That's what its supposed to be like MO FO'S JONEs at SMU is devine intervention ... IF HE can't do it I'll leave too! Re: Time to panic yet?In terms of when we hired him to now...we are 80% rebuilt...
New admissions standard, support from admin, boosters are back, sleeping giant... Not sure I ever suggested a new coach...but I certainly don't think we are limited when the time comes...this is a very good job now... My choice would be young, texas based, maybe African American, who understands that he can win by outworking and recruiting his own back yard... Sumlin, trooper taylor, ect....
Re: Time to panic yet?
This is not an apples to apples comparison. Look at TCU when they started their rebuilding process in 1998. I admit that they had more early success under Fran than we have had with JJ. But that's where the comparison must start. And don't discount the fact that they had the future number 3 NFL draft choice in their backfield. Let's see where we are in year seven of rebuilding. Re: Time to panic yet?We are right on schedule. No other argument is possible and if anyone wants contest it, I suggest you walk over, pull your diploma off the wall, and mail it here C.O.D.

Re: Time to panic yet?
Clearly other arguments are possible, otherwise this thread wouldn't exist. June isn't the messiah, and I think we are all better off when we can freely discuss areas with which we are concerned. The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Re: Time to panic yet?I'm not trying to discourage discussion about how to improve this program, but really? Really, we want to seriously consider changing coaches now that he's delivering *exactly* what we had hoped in our heart of hearts he would deliver? If I took you back to the time of the Purple Hippo, the time we were hoping to get a good, not great, coach in here to coach this sorry team -- and then I told you we'd get June Freaking Jones and that he'd have us out of the bottom ten and right smack dab into two bowl games in his first three years, you'd wet yourselves. Then you'd hit yourself in the head repeatedly with a hammer if I told you there were people complaining about that result. I mean, humans are predictably short sighted and unthankful, but this takes it to a new level. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
