Trevor Theriot - Sign Him Up

We have actually had a few players from this area, Brannon Coluccio (96) and that big lineman who played in the late 90s....can't remember his name but he was from Newport as well. Coluccio never played

Linebacker/fullback prospect Trevor Theriot is one of 12 national finalists for the Wendy's Heisman Award which recognizes outstanding and well-rounded student-athletes.
As a junior he was named second team all-league at LB when he had 55 tackles, four passes broken up, and two forced fumbles. This fall he has mainly been playing offense where he has 1,083 yards and seven touchdowns on 163 attempts. "Schools like me on both sides of the ball," explains Theriot. "UCLA likes me at fullback. USC and Harvard like me at running back and linebacker. Cal likes me at linebacker. It does not matter to me where I play."
On defense this fall, he has 30 tackles, two fumble recoveries, one sack, and one forced fumble.
Theriot has yet to receive his first offer. "There are a lot of coaches calling and coming by the school, but I haven't received any written offers, yet."
UCLA is one of the schools that have came by Newport Harbor. "They came by recently and my dad went up and met with Coach Dorrell, too. I have spoken with him and coach (defensive coordinator Larry) Kerr. I like the way they use the fullback there and I also like that it is close to home."
He also likes what the Trojans do with their running backs. "They like big backs there and that is what I am. I really like Groots (USC linebacker Matt Grootegoed) and the way their defense plays. I have been to several games there this fall. My dad speaks with coach (USC recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach Ed) Orgeron."
Theriot likes all of the schools showing interest in him which include the Bruins, Trojans, Bears, Fresno State, San Diego State, Harvard, Penn, and Stanford.
He has not scheduled any visits yet and says he'll do so at season's end.
The Heisman finalist carries a 4.0 core GPA and scored a 1040 on his SAT. He recently took it again.
