KJ Ellis Update - fyi

Height: 6-1 Weight: 200 40 time: 4.65 Bench: 285 Squat: 345 Clean: 230 Vertical:'32 From: Arlington, Texas High School: Lamar
K.J. Ellis was set to visit Colorado this weekend and possibly commit. But, a call from the CU staff has changed everything. We get the latest on the Texas safety.
"Well, I was supposed to visit Colorado last weekend, but my brother was graduating from UT-Arlington so I couldn't make it," explained Ellis. "So we went ahead and shifted the visit back to this weekend, but the coaches just called me and said that they got a skill position player (Jarrell Yates) and that they needed to make sure they get their offensive lineman now. So as of right now, I am not sure if I will visit there in January, or not. I will now take a visit to New Mexico this weekend instead.
"I am a little disappointed because there was a high possibility that I could have committed there on my trip. It is unfortunate, but I am being patient and I still have a month and a few weeks to make a decision."
The decision could be to opt for New Mexico upon his visit there this weekend. "I am going to talk with my Dad. I need to make sure I am in the safe boat. Southern Methodist has also told me that they filled up at my spot so I do not think that is an option anymore, either. However, I will not commit to New Mexico just to commit. It is a good school and I could really like what I see when I visit there."
Ellis has also talked to a couple of other schools to gauge their interest. "I called San Diego State and Fresno State to see if they would be interested. I have not received a lot of exposure from west coast schools so I wanted to contact a couple of them. Washington State is another school that is still in the picture. We'll see how serious they are."
