Per today's Austin American Statesman, Buck Burnette, a 6-3, 310 lb. junior from Wimberly, was a first-team offensive lineman on the Class 3A team voted upon by The Associated Press Sports Editors. Grady Burnette, Buck's father, started at right tackle on SMU's team that played Pittsburgh in the 1983 Cotton Bowl.

It would be nice if he followed in his father's footsteps.

Without knowing specifics, it sounds as if the coaches are making a more concerted effort to recruit juniors, which can only help.

Get Big Buck to SMU!
