You missed Bryce Hudman of Spring (Klein Oak) who's listed at 6'1" and 210. Committed per Rivals. Read "Safety Candidate" thread below. My source confirms commitment.

2005 Recruits

Postby Boston Pony » Tue Jan 11, 2005 3:00 pm

I'm encouraged that we have commitments from so many linemen this year. The defensive line is the toughest place to recruit (as big guys are in the most demand). Traditionally, OL/DL are also the toughest area to evaluate by the services (Rivals, etc) that I am not concerned about how they are judged or rated. Mostly, the height & size of the linemen is very impressive and welcomed to SMU. The addition of some JC players shows progress by our admissions group in gaining more flexibility, although few of these guys looked to be usual 'marginal candidates' you would see out of a JC. While all of us would like to see some playmakers with high ratings in this group, some progress is being made by the coaching staff. IMO, it will take additional W/L's for us to gain the real recruiting success we wish in the future.

Process questions?

I presume more campus visits are planned by others and what is the remaining timeline this year? When are commitments official and what is the practical or real limit for scholarships to be offered/accepted this year?

I am a little confused...did Wilson commit and we not make an offer? did he do an intview saying he did commit, but didn't? did we offer and he accepted? or did he not commit and we didn't offer?

It is confusing :? I heard the interview where he said he was coming to SMU (I'm not sure whether or not he used the word committed) and then Stallion posted "both Powell and Wilson are listed as committed to SMU in the January 3, 2005 Roanke Times". So who knows...

Invited walk on, perhaps?

My source says that because his grades (SAT?) were marginal he had to go before the professor's board to gain admission to the University. Supposedly, he did that during his visit. The outcome of the meeting is still unknown.

I wish the Tyrone success.

Mean while, I'm surprised we haven't heard from BUS. Hope he didn't throw his back out doing cartwheels over all the big uglies.

professors board? sounds like one more thing we need to get rid of. What do they think we are trying to run around here, a university? - they need to get their rpiorities straight!!

What the F is a "professors' board" and who do I talk to about abolishing it?
