Based on what we've been reading lately, though, might some of those "Best of the Rest" guys turn out to be the best in the class? Don't know yet, of course. Check back in 2-3 years.

These along with the JUCO help may end up being a darn good class. Just have to wait and see.

I do like the BIG MEN and would have even liked to see more.

of course.

Now Bus, I like big uns too, but you need a few little guys to catch passes, throw passes, run the ball and defend against the pass. Give me a bunch of big guys but having a Michael Vick or a Darryl Green or two backing them up couldn't hurt.

EastStang: you of all people should know it's DARRELL Green!
And you're right -- big uglies are vital, but as coaches also say, "you can't teach speed."

OUT of 24 you ONLY have 9 big uglies ( I do not like that term ) and of them only 7 are really BIG MEN.

Now lets see, with 24 recruits and 9 big ones, that leaves 15 for these all so important fast people. ( yes we need fast people )

I just see that as being unbalanced. I believe with enough good BIG MEN, it is easier to find lightning in a bottle type fast recruit.

I would aim for 12 to 16 big men every year.

As much as I like big men, I think 12 to 16 every year would be a bit much. Let's say we ever get to the point where we are 3 deep on both lines, that would be 27 ships for big men. Add 8 RS, and that's still only 35 of 85 ships for big men.

We need skill at playmaking positions. And since we will rarely, if ever, draw the blue chips, we need to gamble on skill players. And that takes alot of gambling w/ ships to find skill players that can play at a D1 level.
