In Fayetteville today, going to Austin this weekend. Both have offered. Man, I'm glad we "pulled" his offer. We don't need this type of player here.

I think that was sarcasm. Despite what some claim - his offer was not pulled - he changed his mind. Unless you buy the - you can't fire me I quit line that some buy into.

Wasn't meant to be rip towards Chris at all. I hope he does what is best for him and becomes a great player.
It WAS meant to be a rip towards those that claim we pulled his offer.

Oh, I didn't mean to rip you at all, just a comment "Hey, let's give this guy a break..." that's all.

I believe that should read..."Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Yeah, I know... it just felt a bit more appropriate in this situation.

He committed to Texas today.
Man, they go 11-1, win the Rose Bowl and the best they can do is sign an SMU reject?

Look, I am no sunshiner. I generally agree with everything Stallion says.
But I don't blame Bennett for pulling the scholarship. He was a commit and then de-committed and said he was going to look around. Bennett had two choices:
He could have said, "That is OK, Chris. I know you want to look at the other schools, let them get you drunk and laid. But if after all that, you change your mind and want to come to SMU, then we'd be glad to have you. We'll keep a 'ship waiting for you."
Or Bennett could have said, "Fine. That is your decision, but I can't wait on you so I am pulling your offer. I have a class to recruit and a team to rebuild. If you change your mind, let me know. Maybe we can work something out."
Sorry guys, but the first scenario sounds too much like the ugly slut in high school craving attention so bad that she is still willing to pork a guy while he is asking the better looking girls to the prom. F' that. Have some friggin' pride.
We all know that if Chris called Bennett today and said he wanted to come to SMU there would probably be a scholarship for him. Stop pretending otherwise.

The first scenario is what just about every coach in america would do for someone they wanted. That is exactly what we did with Vincent Chase.
Things changed with Chris. Both he and Bennett knew that Zach was leaving, so the biggest draw for him to come here was gone.
There's no way in hell we pulled an offer to one of the top OL recruits in the state just because he was going to look around, especially since it is our biggest need.
This was clearly a case of "we didn't want him anyway." Just in this case it was so unbelievable that I'm amazed people attempted to spin it that way.
