Breaking News?

We are in the home stretch - I know we have had our class pretty tucked away for awhile which takes some of the suspense out of things, but surely there are a few good rumors out there as we close this thing out?
Come-on coaches - lets take an academic risk or two on a couple of REALLY good athletes!! Or steal someone from godforsaken Tulsa/Houston/Utah/etc...
One final note - you can predict right now who will be interested in transferring after one year - anyone going to Tulane, way out west, or way north will want to come home - we need a system for quietly staying in touch with those guys so we get a transfer or two in the yrs to come.

Last time I checked, recruiting another schools players (even quietly) is a violation...

These guys just get the big idea to transfer and then they find out later if they have a spot or not, right??? We need to stop being such wussies and do what the frogs and everyone else do to let them know they are welcome.

Interesting tidbit from the Tyler Paper today:
"District 12-5A offensive MVP Tyrone Ross is not expected to sign Wednesday. Owens said Ross is waiting on test scores, and will sign sometime during the coming weeks. Ross was looking at Navarro, but has since changed his focus to SMU.
"I think he wants to go to SMU," Owens said. "But SMU is a little more academically inclined, so he is going to wait to sign after he gets his next test score in."
I heard yesterday that he had visited SMU recently and if he did good enough on the SAT, we would offer him. Is Bennett going to save a slot for him? Anybody have any other info?

Speaking of the Frogs recruiting policies, it appears their track team is under NCAA investigation and they self-imposed some post season penalties, so there must be some fire where that smoke is. I wonder if there are any football recruits who might have gotten the same "incentives" or "help". Why do that sort of thing for a non-revenue sport unless you're doing it systemically? Funny thing is that under NCAA rules if you get tagged for violations in any sport, a later violation (while on probation plus six years) in another sport makes the second sport death penalty eligible. Do I hear taps?

Rivals gives Ross a 2 star, 5.4 rating. He shows high interest in us, but has not received a commitment. No other schools of interest are reported. Earlier in the year he said that his favorite school was Kansas State, but I guess he never received an offer. He was also looking at Arkansas, but I guess that they got tired of waiting for his test scores.

Good one, Ponymon (LOL). Arkansas worrying about test scores!

Forgive me for being a little out of the loop, everyone -- I get nothing on SMU recruiting aside from what I read on this site. So can someone tell me more about this guy? Size? Speed? Position? Stats?
Thanks

Arkansas signed 4 RB's today- one five-star, one four-star, and two three-stars, so I doubt they are in on this guy anymore. I say we sign him up and wait and see, maybe even place him somewhere.

Nice try. Newsflash...if there were violations within the football program, they would have been penalties against them as well. Do you really think TCU would take the chance of getting the death penalty in football? Nice conspiracy theory though.
