Smith was a big time recruit several years ago and I believe was the starter at the start of the season. Now I know that some of the naive on this board think that said transfer will simply chose a new school and show up one day on the Head Coaches doorstep (probably at Mike Price's or Steve Krapthorpe's doorstep)asking for a scholarship but we do have 5-6 Arlington Lamar Vikings on our roster. You know just in case they happen to bump into him on the way back from Austin. BTW one of those OU transfers just showed up at Tulsa's front doorstep a few weeks ago-RB Courtney Tennial who I think was the Oklahoma Player of the Year awhile back.

Watched him play SR. year at Arl. Lamar, heck of a player.Watched brief UT career got hurt and then lost in THE BIG UT sys. BIGGER is not always the BEST way to go. G.S. I thought was pretty good player

Regardless of where he ends up (pssssst: Garnett .... come home to the Hilltop), how many years of eligibility will he have?

There is a rumor on Horn website that he is already enrolled at "Southern"...........

Don't toy with us, SWC -- if that sentence ends up as Southern Illinois, or Southern Miss, you'll be condemned to a lifetime as a character witness for Jose Canseco.
For what it's worth, Smith is listed on the UT website as 6'3" and 230. He's been in Austin for three years: one redshirt and two playing

Well, if we are to "connect the dots" properly, it must be Mississippi...

It could be "Southern University" in Baton Rouge.

...but "University" only has 10 dots, so that would be connecting the dots improperly.

More likely Texas Southern.

If he goes to Texas Southern or Southern University (both 1-AA schools) he will not lose a year of eligibility.

Sorry, giafsp. I always assumed Southern, as in BRouge.
By the way, Southern has a very nice campus. Part of a lake runs thru the campus & the Miss River is the western boundary of campus.
