The soccer team did bring in the local studs. That IS a dynasty.

I was a little surprised to read that 7 of the 8 are local guys. Coach Hyndman has gotten a bunch of guys from Florida (Diego Walsh, Luchi Gonzalez, etc.) and Ohio (Steve Sandbo, Israel Jones) in recent years. Getting that much local talent is rare, but there's a lot of good players in the area. Did anyone else read the story on the homepage about the class? I found it interesting (came from the school) Coach H said every player in the class was "tremendous" or "excellent" or "great." Isn't he usually much more reserved with his comments? I remember reading comments about players, even great players like Luchi or Carl Bussey, etc., where he'd say things like "he has a chance to be a good player" or "has potential." This didn't sound like normal Hyndman-speak. But hey, if he really said it, they must be tremendous/excellent/great!

If that club team had 7 guys on it who are good enough to get recruited by Coach Hyndman, did they EVER lose a game? Seriously .... that much SMU-caliber talent should have rolled past every high school and club opponent they ever saw.

Schellas has a close connection to the Dallas Texans and was a coach for this club until several years ago. I believe just about every member of this club received a major Div. 1 soccer scholarship including one to Indiana (national champs 2004) and one to New Mexico. This team is ranked as one of the best in the nation by Soccer America. It came in third in the national championships in 2003 and lost on penalty kicks in the regional semifinals in 2004 under bad weather conditions.
