Stallion Question

Postby SoCal_Pony » Sat Feb 19, 2005 12:59 pm

Now that you’ve had a couple of weeks to reflect on our recruiting class, can you tell us your opinion of it; how does it compare to prior Bennett/Cavan classes?

Also, if you took the quality of this class and multiplied it by four, what type of team would you have?

Thanks

I think 4-5 classes like this will get you to 3-8 maybe 4-8 in CUSA. There are very few difference-makers in this class, too many recruits who simply weren't highly recruited and too may lost opportunities in the Metroplex-the questionmark to me are the JUCOs but quite frankly they aren't highly recruited either. But I don't grade on the SMU Post DP Curve so popular around here-I grade on the What SMU needs to do to go to Bowl Games and win Championships curve. We don't exactly play in the NFL. If we can't compete with Tulane, Tulsa, Rice, UTEP and UH in Football what does that say. Playing a non-conference schedule with known home and homes with Baylor, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, TCU and NTSU I don't see many September victories although we should at least compete with NTSU at home. Our class was clearly behind the others.

Why do you guys ask Stallion what he thinks? What on earth has made him an expert other than he reads Rivals? I just don't get it.

We all gather that Stallion reads this recruiting stuff rather voraciously. Therefore, it's fair to assume he has some legit info. Sometimes he turns out to be right, sometimes he turns out to be wrong. But for someone who soaks up as much recruiting info as he does, I think it's fair to ask an opinion.

I'd also be interested to know Recruiting Guru's impression, since he's seen some (though not all) of the players play.
