UT Just About Done....

it appears that UT is trying to wrap up its recruiting class early so as to not interfere with the Coaching Staff's early summer vacation plans. I've never seen anything like this-UT got 3 more over the weekend to get to 15 Commitments by April 3 which is TEN MONTHS before signing date. A&M's now got 7 commitments.

I guess the 'positive' side to the incredible recruiting at UT is it clears the deck for any HS recruit that was on the bubble with an offer from UT. It has to be tough for a young 17 year old who has probably not visited very many, if any, schools by April of their Jr year.

Also, those three that commited this weekend (after their scrimmage) must be offensive players. I read there was only 1 TD scored from scrimmage.

Help me understand, why it isn't smarter to have the benefit of seeing their Senior Year season before committing to a recruit? Sub-par senior year, injuries, HS team's performance, etc, could effect their desireability.

And if one turns in a sub-par senior year, you can bet Mac Brown will pull the offer. National signing day is a two way street. Until the kid signs he can accept other offers, and schools can pull offers. That is why its important for SMU to offer even the kid who has committed to UT, so that if for some reason his stock drops slightly, the lines of communication are still open.

because recruiting- just like the NFL and NBA Draft -is all about signing the BEST ATHLETES not about finding guys like RU-DY.

DE Brian Ellis from South Grand Prairie became UT's 16th commitment. Looks like UT is finally recruiting better in the DFW Metroplex as 5 of the 16 commitments are from the area.

oooppps-it looks like they got another one in the last 5 minutes---a big time coup-Sergio Kindle from Woodrow Wilson-the No. 2 rated player in Texas. That makes 6 out of 17 commitments from the Metroplex.

How would you like to be almost done with your 06 class in April 05 and then pick up Sergio Kindle for giggles......just isn't fair. IMO, Kindle is UT's best recruit since Vince Young. There are no sure things in recruiting, but he's about as close as you can get.
