Irving High School receiver Adron Tennell will be a hot commodity this summer in recruiting circles. Coach Bennett reported that Adron has no plans to camp anywhere this summer. Bennett had this to say, “He’s one of the top receivers in the state. I advised him not to camp anywhere.”

The 4.5 speedster has good size at 6’3” and 190 pounds to make any college drool. Rated as the number 15 prospect in the Scout.com Texas Top 100, Tennell obviously has the tools to make a big splash wherever he ends up. Tennell reportedly has offers from Mississippi State, TCU, OU, Texas A&M, SMU, and Texas Tech. When asked if Tennell had a top 5 he replied, “The only school Pooh’s [Tennell] mentioned to me is Texas Tech. They throw the ball a lot and he likes that.”

Coach Bennett spoke a little about the connection between Tennell and his cousin Jamaal Evans, the running back out of Irving High. When asked about the possibility of a package deal, Bennett had this to say; “They’re cousins. It’s very likely that they’ll be a package deal.”

No kidding. We'd have to agree that it's not likely -- that report says Tech, of all places, is leading -- but how nice would this guy look in Red and Blue!!!!!!!!!

I don't have a rivals subscription, but from what I could tell for free, his cousin Jamaal Evans looks like a solid Division 1A prospect as well. Have we offered him?

I acknowledge I know little about any prospects.

I am trying to decide whether or not I deserve that remark. Probably not, but that is OK. After all, Stallion I gave you credit for something yesterday.

I am guessing we probably have. I am also guessing that we are not going to get either of these kids.

Evans has never mentioned any interest in SMU in any of the 5 or so Rivals' reports done on him over the last 1/2 year.

Update on Tennell: According to Jim Bennett his high school coach and brother to SMU Head Coach Phil Bennett-Texas Tech and Oklahoma St are the schools Tennell has mentioned most prominently. Basically, Bennett suggests that Tennell wants to go where they will get him the ball.

Sad fact is that despite our 'fun' offenses, we haven't had any semblance of an offense since Mike Romo's second season.

Perhaps if we ever get anything going, some of these top WRs would be more interested. A lot might (MIGHT!) change this year in the second full year under a new OC.

But, I've said that before - when Cavan was hired, when Bennett was hired (and no, not that things WOULD be better, rather that they MIGHT be better and we wouldn't know until their respective 2nd seasons at the helm - a minimum)....now we shall see if the proven commodity of Rusty Burns can do anything.

The key at this point to a better offense is a better O-line. I'm counting on these guys to have gotten bigger and better since last season come this fall. If that happens, we should be able to have a "fun offense".

Much more importantly...does anyone know if this kid can actually play basketball at a D-1 level?
