....SMUMUSTANGS.COM has put out its press release for this weeks' game. It includes interesting sections including depth charts and updated rosters. I noticed that one new player was once a pretty promising QB prospect from Northwestern who was switched to RB. Jason Ferguson is about 6-2, 190 and runs a 4.45. He is listed as a WR on the SMU roster. He didn't play for his first 3 years at Northwestern-their site says he was hampered by injuries and switched positions. Seems to be a decent athlete. He was a 3 star recruit-No. 15 Dual Threat QB in the country. Rivals reported offers from Kansas St., Missouri, and Purdue. Was also recruited by N.D., Illinois and Kansas. Prep Star All Midlands, 68 TDs rushing and passing. 10.66 in the 2001 Junior Olympics 100 Meter Dash. He's got unusual height and speed for a WR which is what we have been looking for.

If you read the older Rivals stories on Ferguson, he was a four-star at the start of his senior season...

Didn't we hear about him coming here a loooooooooong time ago? And that reminds me, what happened to that 3rd string walk on LSU quarterback that was thinking of coming here?

I could be wrong, but I think you're thinking of the fmr. Highland Park QB, who had issues with his transfer hours. That was a different guy. Can't remember his name.

we also spoke briefly regarding a transfer from Northwestern who was a highly recruited DT from Jesuit --wasn't the guy named Reggie Stephens or something. I think this is the first time we have discussed the new guy because I would have remembered his high Rivals rating.

I think he has to sit out this year as a transfer. We'll see in 2006.

Brilliant logic that he has to sit out a year when he's missed three years already. Like Munlin, he will be one year and done at SMU. Will he help in 2006? Dunno. Who cares, don't cost nothing.

Nope - Reggie Stephens was an OL who signed last year with Iowa State or someplace. You're talking about Thomas Derricks.
