What is the rumor mill saying about rennovating Moody and adding practice courts to support the Men's and Women's BB Team, while also serving Volleyball?

I already claimed any money for that to go towards a special teams coach for the football team. Sorry.

Copeland's inability to raise money to renovate Moody has been his biggest failure as an AD. If he cannot do it, hire someone who can. Are you reading this Copeland? It is time to put up or shut up.

Baylor just announced they are spending millions on basketball improvements. I don't care if the football team goes to the Rose Bowl. I want Copeland gone.

Absolutely Copeland gets credit -- a lot of credit … not all of the credit, by any means, but a lot. Ford's initial pledge was $5 million. Who do you think convinced him to raise it to $20 million?

The Hunt brothers. Both of whom are Kappa Sigmas. They both matched his 5 mil to start with 10. Then they had a meeting and had him give 20 and the Pettus family give another 3 or so.
The kickoff was 33 million dollars. The Hunts sold it... Ask Ford himself.

Rumor mill is that the plan is to build BB facilties where the Cinco Center is as of now. They want to tear that down as well as the University Gardens Apartments and put some athletic avenues there.

I am sorry, but Copeland does not deserve credit for the new stadium. He did not support it, thinking we didn't have the financial interest to build it. It was all Turner and our generous alums, Ford, Hunt and others.

I am all for getting rid of Copeland, but this isn't true. There are multiple DMN articles about a "refurbished Ownby". Copeland was behind it and they were looking for a "name" donor. You can find them in the DMN archives. I went and pulled them because I had this question myself. As much as I would love to say that Ford Stadium was Ford's idea or Turner's idea alone, the facts don't bare that out. Now, you can argue that Copeland and Turner got lucky and had a capital campaign at the right moment in time when the stock market was going nuts and you can say that Turner had more to do with it than Copeland, but you cannot say Copeland did not support it.

Billy Joe,
Considering the amount of money that has been raised for the Moody renovation and new practice facilities, I think you are terribly misinformed about the facts of the situation. Or, to put it simply, you are dead wrong on this point.
Lastly, anybody who thinks our AD has nothing to do with Ford/Moody/Wescott Field/ improvements/construction/renovations is also smoking something that I would like to acquire so I can sell it for a major profit and retire.

How much has been raised, Eddie P? And why isn't that renovation being undertaken if there has been so much raised for it?

Eddie P,
I am actually correct on this subject or the thing would have been built years ago when it should have been built. How can SMU say they are commited to winning in Division 1-A when they do not build the facilities needed to compete or lower the admission requirements (which is another topic). Frankly, Eddie P. you are a little too close to the administration (i.e., Copeland, Bennett, etc.) to comment on the situation. Your comments are too biased and one sided. My advise to you: work on your Golden Tee game and everything else will take care of itself.
