DB D'Nerian Wrighter from Arkansas 3 star 5.6 rating from 2004 class. I can't remember exactly how many BCS Division 1A transfers they got now but I know its a lot.

does anyone wonder how these guys are paying that private school tuition in their transfer year??? Must be they are earning academic scholarships.

for some reason, I thought you could not give a scholarship to a transfer, at least in the year of ineligibility. If that is the case, I hope that's what Copeland was referring to with his comments that "we've still got some changes that need to be made". No reason why any DFW area guy who makes a mistake signing with Texas or LSU or whoever and then decides he misses home or simply wants to go someplace he'll have a chance to play...shouldn't think about SMU as a very desireable place to be. Let's get this "transfer" problem fixed and get some athlete friendly majors in place.

I'm pretty sure you have no facts to back that up. Look if there are over 500 Division 1A players from the METROPLEX alone that play college football there is a good chance that there will be plenty looking to transfer. Some schools make that possible some schools have trouble getting Tier 1 school transfers in.

Like I said in the post, Stallion, it's impossible to prove.

As I have said before, there are a handful of D-I schools where you "find" a disproportionate amount of transfers on their roster. When that happens, it's no accident-- there has to be pre-contact by the schools.

If the ncaa is not going to penalize Oh State for paying players, changing grades, loaning cars, etc., they are not going to follow the trail of cellphone calls of coaches to disgruntled D-I players to catch 'tampering' infractions.

BCS schools give between 24-32 scholarships a year-redshirt most-that means about 125-145 players go thru a program over a 5 year period. You can only have 85 on scholarship-you do the math. Its not a conspiracy at all. Have you checked out UTEP's roster. How about Tulsa? How about UH?

It is no coincidence that the same schools (each year) come up with the most D-I transfers.

Again, it's no accident-- theses schools are willing to take the chance because, like I said, the ncaa can't even figure out how to banish OhSt for blatant cheating.

You're right, it's no conspiracy. Albeit illegal, it's a calculated risk by schools such as TCU, Tulsa, etal to push the tampering rule to the edge.

That may be true, Stallion.

The post was not about SMU, but TCU getting ANOTHER transfer.

Again, I believe TCU/Tulsa/UNLV, etc. go beyond the spirit of the rule regarding contact tampering. Based on the large # of transfers to these same schools, the disproportionate number of transfers to these select schools cannot be random.

PLAYERS must get a release from their current school prior to ANY contact with another DI school.

SWC, consider DI transfers to be Voodo Economics...trickle down of players. Quite often a player goes to a top BCS program then transfers after not playing or becoming homesick. They can go DIAA or DII or sit a year in DI-A. A TCU or Tulsa or UTEP looks good to them (potential to play). SMU is ugly to transfers, not just FB players because of transferable credits thus we don't tend to get many. The counterflow was under Cavan were players left SMU to go to places like U of Minn,
