This year we are going to be picky - WHY

Quite simple. We only have 13 ships to give away.
Remeber most ( 21 or 22 ) from last year are red-shirting.
With a few of these going to a good JUCO or two ( maybe ) we do not have many to offer.
I do like the two commits that we have

really? because I can give you a very long list of players we were interested in and/or offered that have turned us down. I guess none of those selective players is among the Top 87 players in the DFW Metroplex. You don't really believe what you wrote do you-i'll bet you were repeating what you were told. Believe what you want but things do not look good in recruiting.

Yes, I do believe the numbers and that we have few to offer.

gotta have more than 13 to give. Unless Bennett awarded a bunch of scholarships to former walk-ons, I don't see anywhere near 85 scholarship players on the current roster, and I see at least 10 scholarship Seniors. Always look for some upperclass guys who have fallen on the depth chart to transfer as well. I'd guess more like 20 will be available...if there are enough guys worth offering. Perhaps some walk-ons have already been identified and may earn some of the available scholarships...or we may go with less than 85??
Guys like Sledge who are getting PT...is he now on scholarship? Foster (transfer)? I forget which Poynter walked on?

First and foremost, SMU has not been 'picky' in recruiting in over fifteen years. Second, Bennett is getting is rear kicked in recruiting. I understand that Texas, OU, etc. can pick and chose players. But it is wholly unacceptable to not even have one top 150 player commited for next year. After all, SMU is a decent school in the middle of a large city. Bennett better pull a rabit out of his little hat for next year's coach whoever that may be.

You mean there are more players in Texas than we can sign?
Shocking.
I need a drink to recover from that stunning bit of news.

Stallion said it, so it has to be correct.

No anybody else can come on here and mention a player who is getting strong recruiting attention who is strongly considering SMU. There is info out there on about 400+ players in Texas alone and well over 125+ in DFW. All that info makes its way back to this forum if its positive. In this regard, I just read an article on the Novak kid at Ennis-about 6-2, 185 and allegedly has 4.5 speed. Already has about 49 catches for 750 yards this year-had about the same last year and 89 catches for 1,200 yards as a mere Sophmore when playing with present TT QB Graham Harrell in one of the most prolific HS passing teams in the State. It appears he really wants to go to SMU along with interest in TCU-but nobody has offered yet. He's the type of recruit we'll end up with but is not highly recruited. Is he really the longball threat we need?

He's more of a possession receiver than deep threat. I question that 4.5 time. I'll say this, though. He is a quality kid who comes from a big time program that knows how to win. Watching Ennis play is like watching a small version of Miami. Lots of fast, aggressive kids with attitude. Why not bring Harrell - and his son - to SMU? Make him the QB coach and groom him as Bennett's successor.

NO, I think that was Stephenville.
Could be wrong.
The one that dropped out to be in the Band - Submerged.

Naw Bus, that's Kelan Luker from Stephenville. Pretty sure Wallis is from Ennis
