On November 16th of last year we got our 5th commitment, Brad Lankford

Here was the list from a year ago as of November 16th

Mitch Enright - OL - Southlake (Carroll), Texas
Todd Alexander - LB - Fort Worth (North Crowley)
David Allison - OL - Humble, Texas
Josh Hickman - OL - Rowlett, Texas
Brad Lankford - DT - Waco, Texas

Enright and Alexander committed in Aug, Allison and Hickman in first week of Sep.

Saw Enright and Lankford at the game in Tulsa. Langford is huge with no apparent fat and he is just a freshman. If he keeps growing, he is going to be a monster DT.

The SMU roster lists Lankford at 6-4, 280. COnsidering Enright is listed at 6-2, 280, I think Lankford is talled than 6-4. (I'm 6-2, and I was looking at Enright eye-to-eye. Standing next to Lankford, I felt like I was looking at Eric Castro .... almost.) And as PK said, this kid is built like a truck. Not to get ahead of ourselves, but when you think about what he and (redshirted powerlifting afficionado) Chase Smith might look like in a couple of years under Coach Faucette .... let's just say these are the kinds of guys BUS is constantly preaching the need for.

Hopefully Lankford contributes substantially next year. With Bonds and Haywood back, added to new contributors like say Lankford and Griffin, and we're in good shape. Someone needs to be camped out in Corsicana, Athens, Tyler & Kilgore at the JuCos looking for two LBs who will bring to the LB position what Haywood brought to DT. Front four will definitely by a strength.

well then Enright has hit a growing spurt then because he was measured last year at I think 2 camps as 6'.05''. Lankford also was measured at 6-3 last year so I bet the logical conclusion is that you lie about your height. The SMU roster is laughable-they also have Tony Eckert at 6-2.

I think Stallion's outrage is funny.

You are right, Stallion. No other sports organization (college or pro) would put inaccurate information on a roster. That's unheard of. Next thing you know, we'll find out that some of the SMU Theta's are not natural blondes.

it was tongue in cheek because he attempted to prove the height of a player based on his own height. As a former worker in the SIDs office I know that these are unverified heights.

And I just wanted to throw out a comment about Theta's and natural blondes. You have to take advantage of your opportunities. Like when you have the ball three times inside your opponent's 10 yard line-you have to get a touchdown in those situations. Oh, yeah.

How about two JUCO Oline and 2 LB's. Plus a QB.

Then stock up on some linemen for growing during red shirt year.

Always need a RB and receiver and DB too.
5 plus 3 plus 2 in the bag is 10 so the rest are linemen.

I actually am 6-2. And Enright is very close to being exactly my height (depending on shoes, I suppose). And I worked in the Sports Information Office, which means nothing.
And for what it's worth, I have met Eckert many times -- he might be a little over 6-2 -- I think he's a little taller than I am.

Lankford is an OG not a DT. OL from last years class is Allison, Nigh-OTs, Lankford, Hickman, OGs, Enright-C.

Right -- didn't mean to suggest in my first post that Lankford and Chase are playing side-by-side; Lankford is playing at guard on the scout team, going every day against Adrian Haywood.

Lankford may be on Scout O-line but I think he plays next year at DT.

Just what I heard.

At least we have bigger faster competition at practice. These are the small points that are making this team better.

We still need more big men. More quality big men with quick feet!

I've heard he stays at OG.
Guess we'll see in the spring, huh?

I am surprised that you would think that a 17 or 18 year old kid measured at camps two summers ago would still be the same size today. That is almost laughable. Kids don't all go through their growth spans at the same time nor is 18 necessarily the cut off for growth either be it in height or gerth.
