Andrew Novak Ennis Receiver

Postby mustangbill67 » Thu Nov 17, 2005 1:46 pm

Major article on Andrew Kovak in the School Days section of today's DMN.
He is a team mate of QB Clark Harrell who we have offered. While Kovak is one of the Dallas areas top receivers over the past three years, he has no offers although SMU, Baylor and Tulsa have shown interest. Apparently the issue is speed. At best he is a 4.6 40 yard dash guy but tough to cover according to his coach Sam Harrell.

Is anyone else a fan of the Garrett Mills at Tulsa or David Thomas at UT type of game of tight end? Let him beat linebackers and safeties in man coverage if he can run by high school corners. I think those guys help their teams pretty well.

Speed is nice...but think Columbus Givens has proven that you need more than speed. A solid route runner would be a nice pick up

Don't worry about Givens. He's going to be fine.
This is the first time he's ever played receiver, but he's an amazing athlete. He'll be the least of our worries.

Otto, I agree that Givens will get it worked out and be a big time down field threat for us.

Just meant that speed isn't everything and novak being a bit slower but a good route runner can be a very effective weapon. Especially if combined with a speed demon like Givens.
