UH expects to sign several Division 1A Transfers this year including James Francis from Baylor and Stephen Jones from OSU. The big prizes though might be Clarence Ward and Kory Mangum out of LaMargue who are transferring from Florida State. Meanwhile SMU is still trying to define exactly what the meaning of commitment is. Some of the best athletes coming into the programs at UTEP, TCU, Tulsa and UH among others are Division 1A transfers-it matters and its a major handicap to this program and must be changed immediately.

They need the help.....

UH - Beat them.
TCU - Beat them.
UTEP - Beat them.

Relax.....it was a joke, sort of.
Yes we all know there needs to be changes and the longer we wait, the longer it is till we can compete for the CUSA championship, but b*tching to the 8 people on Ponyfans is not going to get those changes done....someone has to b*tch to the right people. And I am not saying it is Stallion's job to be the one to b*tch to the "right" people about it, but most of the time this board is a broken record that the administration doesn't listen to.

Of course, you don't actually know that these kids could not have transferred to SMU under current policies. You don't have transcripts for these kids. You don't know what electives these kids have taken and I doubt you know what their majors were. As I have mentioned before it isn't fundamentally different to get I-A transfers than it is to get JuCos; the issues by and large are the same.

Chances are you are probably right. But I have not been expecting Bennett to recruit transfers that would have to sit out a year under the current circumstances. Bennett wants transfers that can play against Texas Tech in 2006, not TCU in 2007 and that means JuCo (or another division).

Anyway, it is slightly easier (and SMU has historically had more success at it) to get IA transfers in here than JuCo- i.e. Foy Munlin. As much as anything, I think the lack of IA transfers has as much to do with Bennett's recruiting priorities and a lack of success at it as it does with elective transfer issues.

Just my opinion.

Oh.. thanks for the update

Not sure these kids would have ever made it at SMU anyway.

BTW.. Matt Stafford and Clint Renfro both aren't going here either.

We're SMU.. are you really surprised?
