short, small at 5-8, 180. Was a finalist for offensive player of the year in Houston.
We are the only ones who have offered, but some other mid-majors are looking at him.
Blake Warren, meet Chris Riser. He is supposed to have good hands, good agility, decent speed, and returns kicks. Probably would be brought in as a good athlete to mostly return kicks.

At 5-8, I hope he's got Henderson-like speed.

Not from what I understand. I think he is more like Warren - udnersized, good handls, lots of "wiggle".

JasonB, forgive me if this is obvious. Do I remember correctly that you are a former player? You seem to have a lot of true "inside" information.

No, not a former player... I just know my football. And just because I hear something doesn't mean it came from our coaches.
And I am not saying that this guy is as good or better than Blake. I don't mean to imply that. Just saying that is what he is being recruited for.

The Rivals write-up:
Houston Touchdown Club nominee Chris Riser received his first offer this week from Southern Methodist University.
Riser (5-foot-8, 170 pounds) of North Shore has been an integral part of the Mustang offense for three seasons and has returned kicks for two years.
"He's probably the best all-round receiver we've had here," North Shore coach David Aymond said. "He can catch anything and has good speed, but he's also a tremendous blocker downfield and that sometimes gets overlooked."
Riser caught 40 passes in the regular season for 634 yards, and rose to the occasion in the playoffs. He caught two clutch touchdowns against Westfield and one against Pearland.
The dependable hands man also brings his talents to the baseball diamond where he has been an all-district selection for two years. He plans on just focusing on football after his high school days come to an end.
Memphis, Houston and Louisiana Tech are also recruiting Riser.
