SMU gets commitments from two Navarro players

Navarro College outside linebacker Damon Hurst (Waco) and center Joe Holmes (Corsicana) said they had committed to SMU. Oral commitments are nonbinding. The first day a recruit can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 1.

Evidently the morning news is not aware that JUCOs can sign letters of intent long before February 1. :shock:

They probably think that's something okay for Texas, but certainly not SMU

One internet source shows OL Joe Holmes as 6-2/270/5.20.

there is an article in the Corsicana paper today quoting Holmes as saying he was offered by only Louisiana Tech and Stephen F. Austin. Schools like Arizona and Kansas were interested but never offered. Holmes says he is 6-0, 305.
