Scurry-Rosser athlete D'Marcus Lang, No. 34 on SportsDay's area top 100, said his oral commitment to Kansas this week is no guarantee that teammate Phillip Burley, a wide receiver, will pick the Jayhawks. Burley, No. 63 on the area list, said his final three teams are Kansas, Missouri and SMU.

lets hope his relationship w/ his bro will still bring him here.. bro's before big 12 ho's

I heard he does want to come to SMU, but he's afraid he'd be moved to TE here. He has very good offers to play WR (Oklahoma, Iowa, etc.)

well we should tell him exactly what he wants to hear.. if he wants to be a wr now, tell him he will be one.. if we need him at TE in two years, then he better be a team player and say "yes sir, coach" and walk straight to the weightroom

lets just get him here

I would not want to be a tight end at SMU either. We have one of the best in the country and we don't use him. This is a smart kid. I would write it in stone that we will keep him at wide out.

I saw one S-R game, and he's really impressive. He's bigger than just about everyone on the field at that level, and fast and athletic (great leaper). But what I really liked was the way he caught the ball. He never let the ball come into his body -- he reached out and snatched the ball, whether he was in traffic or not. He looked more advanced than a lot of HS receivers I've seen who just rely on their athletic ability without bothering to learn how to play receiver. I don't know who we're after, but I was very impressed by this guy.

with McCann committed, a verbal from Burley would go a long way to getting this class going.

I agree. But didn't someone say that his offer is contingent upon his agreeing to play tight end? Hope that's not the case.
