Re-vamped wish list

So if we're still using 15-16 as an estimate for the number of scholarships, and we already have six (Rhodes, Gonzalez, Holmes, Hurst, McCann, and I'm including Sowe), that means we have about 10 left. Based on what we know (and of course there are other candidates out there that we don't know about, guys who might change commitments from elsewhere, etc.), here's what I'd like to see added to the class (in no particular order):
1. A quarterback -- JUCO preferably, but high school if need be. We're thin at the position, and while they might be talented, we're inexperienced there, too. Have to sign at least one more.
2. Safety Daniel Johnson
3. Wide receiver Philip Burley
4. Wide receiver Russell Roberts
5. Athlete Jeremy Sanders (who, according to rivals, also is a dual-threat QB. Could he be a possibility there? Has anyone seen this guy throw?)
6. Defensive lineman Henry Nuitei
7. Offensive lineman Mark Terry
8. A kicker
9. Running back (maybe linebacker?) Amadeus Waters
10. Another linebacker with speed

We need a punter as well... and will probably give a scholarship to one of the walk-ons to take that spot?
We need two LBs.

Based on your list, I would think Johnson, Burley and Roberts (if for no other reason than to help land Johnson) are must-haves. I like what I've read about Nuitei and Terry, too.
And what's the possibility we sign a kicker AND a punter?

Evidently Sanders committed to Houston yesterday.

He did but it was a soft committ that even he says isn't final. He will take his remaining visits and then make his formal decision.
Don't get the concept of a soft verbal either commit or don't.

It's kind of like making a tentative date for the prom with someone you know will go with you, but really you want the HOT chick in your english class...your just not sure she will say yes and you really don't want to go to the prom alone.

That basically means, hold my scholarship for me, I am interested, but I am going to finish taking my visits.

Miami used to make a living off these guys. A player would commit someplace, and Miami would tell them that was cool, and said "just come enjoy a free weekend in south florida." The following Monday, a player would change his commitment. Hard to blame them, in many cases. If I committed to Minnesota or Syracuse or Michigan State or something, and then saw the palm trees and the beach, I'd switch in a heartbeat.

Oh I know what it means...just think it is crap. If I was a coach I would ignore any soft verbals and treat it like a non-commit.

Well lets hope we can do the same to Sanders and show him the beautiful campus life that should be everywhere on that weekend.

I agree. I've even heard of many coaches asking a kid how solid his commitment is, and if the kid says "well, I'm committed but I'm still going to visit Miami/UCLA/Bahamas State, etc.," the coach will say "well, then you're not committed at all. Either you commit or you don't." I'd like to see all coaches do that, and I'd like to see a scenario under which the players can't make last-minute switches.
Unless they're switching to SMU. Then it's OK.
