LB Zac Thomas from Stephenville 6-3 1/4, 237(verified at TT Mini-camp) committed to SMU over offers from Baylor and Tulane. He is rated a 5.2 2 star. I had a previous post on him in which I posted some pretty good speed and size based on summer camps. He ran a 4.69 at a Texas Tech mini-camp. He said Bennett asked him to make a solid commitment because of the lack of availiable scholarships and Thomas agreed to cancel other visits.
Big LB...

Hopefully he has some speed.

Do I remember correctly that he played DE in high school?
Does he have the quickness to play outside, or is he moving inside with Carrington?

Rather impressive, wouldn't you say?
When I saw the title you put on this thread, I thought you meant we had signed Dat Nguyen as a graduate assistant or something (but I don't think he was ever an all-Pro....)

the Scout Network High School page had him as the No. 81 in the State of Texas in a preseason list-although that the consensus is that may be a tad high.

I agree. I have him rated as the No. 82 player in the state.

Is it safe to dream of a Bordano type of player?

My guess would be that he will be a down lineman for us.

while I don't ordinarily want to see any true Frosh have to play as LBs (still think McCray was pushed into action a year too early), this guy appears to have the size to move right in and compete for time as a backup to Carrington.
At least one site is showing him having been recruited as a DL
