Texas/OU success helps SMU

I would contend that it is good news for us if Texas and OU continue to maintain elite status nationally come recruting time. The more they draw nationally instead of regionally, the higher level of athlete is left for everyone else - which ultimately benefits us. I would predict our class next year will benefit from a combination of that plus our hopfully increased success.
Assuming we can out-recruit Rice/Tulsa/Houston over time, (and although not proven this year yet I think we will over time), then we should be competing with Baylor and TCU for the next stop after higher end Big 12 teams fill up.
Particularly helpful when we play nonTexas CUSA teams.

I can't believe I'm going to write this, but outrecruiting Rice might become a tall order. As has been noted by many on this board, we can not discount the recruiting ability of Coach Graham or some of his young, charismatic assistant coaches.

They still have to recruit kids that can stay in school at Rice - that is a tall order.

It would really help SMU if the Red River Shootout was moved back to campus. That way, SMU could claim it was the only Division 1 school that competes in Dallas.

That wouldn't matter really. If they leave.. the Cotton Bowl will get Aggy to play Sand Aggy every year.
I would rather have Texas/OU stay if that's the alternative.

How about getting US to play someone like the aggies or sand aggies?

Unless we really need the big paycheck, until we can play a respectable game against them, it does our program no good to get humiliated playing TU or A$M.
