Re-Schedules SMU Visit
by Josh Clark of HawkeyeNation.com, January 9, 2006 at 11:27pm ET
Phillip Burley Profile
Scurry-Rosser wide receiver Phillip Burley was originally slated to officially visit SMU this past weekend, but was unable to do so due to a sports banquet he had to attend.
Burley has re-scheduled his trip to SMU for this upcoming weekend, and upon his return, is expected to make a decision between Kansas and SMU.

Come on, Phillip! You are a Mustang -- you just need to give Coach Bennett the word.

So now it's down to two.
Got my fingers crossed.

Outside of a QB, I believe a big-time WR is our biggest need on offense. Burley sounds like he could be the guy.......I like 6'5" guys that can run a 4.5.

I know we shouldn't put the cart before the horse, but....
When Willis is a JR/SR, we'll have DeMyron in the backfield, Henderson returning kicks, Givens, Sanders and Burley as WRs, and hopefully fourth year juniors/fifth year seniors starting on the OL. Anyone else like that possibility?
C'mon, Phillip. Hang with big bro for awhile. Come to the hilltop! Sure you can fly charters out of Lawrence or Topeka...but when you don't, MAN that's a long drive from the KC, Mo airport-which is halfway to St. Joseph!

No athletic 6'5" WR should believe anyone who weighs as much as JABBA the HUTT...
(sorry, couldn't get the Star Wars image to load)

He would make a huge impact at SMU, they could definitely use him.

Hey how many times did a Kansas wide out make ESPN's top plays? (Frankly I don't know the answer, but...) An SMU reciever did it twice. Remember, my man, it's a good news story when SMU does well, not just locally, but nationally - come on up to the Hilltop, the wether's great!

I am going to go out there and predict that we get Burley! And my reasoning is simply that I fail to find anything appealing about playing at Kansas?

I hope we get him, I hope he realizes that he could play right away and that SMU is heading back up to the top.

Amen!
Of course, he'll have to agree to a new jersey number: I think he wears 19 in high school, and some guy named Dickerson took that off the market.

New report on Rivals, sounds like we will get our answer by middle of next week:
"I actually talked to Phillip earlier in the week about his recruitment," said Scurry Rosser head coach Virgil Crow. "He has cut his list to Kansas, Missouri and SMU. Phillip is going to take an official visit to SMU this weekend and will then make a decision on a school next week.
"Once Phillip returns from his visit to SMU, we will sit-down and come up with a decision," he added. "I would imagine that a decision will be made during the middle to late of next week."

Sounds like we have a good shot, hopefully we sign this guy. Let's impress him on the visit this weekend.
